Throughout his long career, the legendary Hulk Hogan was not just a staple of the wrestling world with WWF, WCW, TNA, and WWE, but also dabbled in numerous TV, film, and entertainment projects. Among these were “Rocky III”, “Suburban Commando”, “Mr. Nanny”, and “Thunder in Paradise”. However, there’s one Hogan television show you may have overlooked, and it’s coming back for another round!
As a big fan myself, I’m super excited to share that today, Variety has confirmed some fantastic news! The iconic 1985 animated series, “Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling,” is making its way onto the WWE Vault YouTube channel. Get ready to relive the glory days because WWE will start airing these episodes from September 6th onwards!
WWE Vault will be releasing a series of episodes in chronological order at specific times: 6 AM, 8 AM, 10 AM, and 12 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). The initial set of four episodes will feature Junkyard 500/Junkenstein, The Four-Legged Pickpocket, Clean Gene/Andre’s Giant Problem, and Gorilla My Dreams.
What Was Hulk Hogan’s Rock’n’Wrestling?
If you’re unfamiliar, the TV show “Hulk Hogan’s Rock’n’Wrestling” debuted in 1985. It was packed with wild adventures starring Hulk Hogan and his friends, often butting heads with villains such as Roddy Piper. Throughout the series, Hulk Hogan crossed paths with wrestling legends like Junkyard Dog, Andre the Giant, The Iron Sheik, Bobby Heenan, Captain Lou, Big John Studd, Mene Gene, Superbly Snuka, and many others.
The series spanned over two seasons, concluding with a total of 26 episodes. These episodes encompassed a wide range of adventures, such as Hogan posing as a model for an art class, exorcising ghosts from a friend’s home, designing an outfit for Andre to wear at his high school reunion, participating in a jousting tournament to win a castle, and much more, filled with plenty of funny mishaps during the two-season period.
The Passing of an Icon
This year, the wrestling community was deeply saddened by the death of Hogan, who was actually known as Terry Bollea. At 71 years old, Hogan was taken to a hospital from his home in Clearwater, Florida, where he later passed away. In the wake of this news, an outpouring of tributes began from family members, friends, and admirers alike. The WWE chose to honor Hogan’s legacy on Raw, NXT, and SmackDown over the following week.
