Fresh details have emerged about the heartbreaking demise of a baby belonging to a University of Kentucky cheerleader, as reported.
A week following Laken Ashlee Snelling’s arrest over an unresponsive baby discovered concealed within a closet, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office released findings from a preliminary postmortem examination of the newborn, as reported by NBC News.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m sharing some recent news that has left many in shock. Although the tests confirmed that a newborn boy arrived on August 27th, authorities have yet to pinpoint the exact cause of his tragic demise. The details remain unclear at this moment, but the situation underscores the importance of health and wellness for every member of our community, especially the most vulnerable among us.
In a statement shared with NBC News on September 4th, county coroner Gary W. Ginn acknowledged the community’s concern and emotional response towards the tragic death of a child. He emphasized that this incident has deeply impacted lives not only in their locality but also in Tennessee and beyond, being part of the Commonwealth. Currently, they are diligently and meticulously conducting an investigation into the child’s death to ensure all relevant facts are thoroughly examined.
On August 27, Snelling, aged 21, was apprehended following a report of an unresponsive infant at a residence in Lexington, Kentucky, prompting the intervention of authorities.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., law enforcement were summoned to a home on Park Avenue’s 400 block due to an unresponsive baby. Upon their arrival, they discovered the baby who unfortunately did not survive and was declared dead at the location itself, as stated in a press release by Lexington police on August 31st.
The child, as reported by NBC affiliate WLEX’s citation, was found swaddled in a towel within a black garbage bag. Furthermore, after being informed of her rights under Miranda, Snelling allegedly admitted to giving birth and subsequently hiding the birth by removing any traces of it. She is said to have collected all cleaning materials used in this process and disposed of them, along with the newborn, wrapped in a towel, inside the same black garbage bag.
According to court documents obtained by NBC News on September 4, the college athlete admitted guilt for desecrating a body, altering evidence, and hiding the birth of a baby. After being granted bail on September 2, she is now under house arrest.
At the time of Snelling’s arrest, TopMob News reached out to find a lawyer for comment, but we didn’t receive a response.
