The highly anticipated film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is looking to be a significant event within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it appears to be aiming for a grand spectacle with its wide-ranging scope and star-studded cast. Earlier, Marvel Studios unveiled a sneak peek of their impressive lineup during their well-known chair presentation, but there were numerous names left out in this reveal, including the chatty anti-hero known as Deadpool. Lately, there have been mixed whispers about Deadpool’s potential role in “Doomsday“. Now, one of his fellow actors has spoken up on the matter regarding his involvement.
The last occasion where Ryan Reynolds portrayed Wade Wilson was in the 2024 blockbuster “Deadpool & Wolverine”, during which Channing Tatum made his first appearance as Gambit. In an interview with Variety (through ComicBookMovie), Tatum addressed the speculations about a Deadpool-Avengers: Doomsday collaboration, and he currently feels it’s unlikely due to Reynolds’ overwhelming workload, stating, “I believe he’s quite occupied. He’s got around 15,000 assignments.
Is He Really Not In It Though?
There’s been talk that Ryan Reynolds will play Deadpool again in the movie “Doomsday,” but he himself has stated that he hasn’t filmed any scenes yet. With past denials often turning out to be untrue, as seen with Andrew Garfield’s claims before appearing in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” it’s no wonder fans are hesitant to rule out the possibility that this could still happen in the end.
It’s been announced that Channing Tatum is part of the cast for the movie “Doomsday”, a dream come true for many fans who thought his Gambit film might have remained in the realm of unrealized possibilities. Thanks to the success of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine”, Tatum was able to bring Gambit to life on the silver screen, and expressing gratitude to Ryan Reynolds for making that happen is an understatement. When asked about it, Tatum said, “My friend Ryan, I’ll be forever grateful. If his children ever needed a kidney, I’d give it. He takes care of his people, and I’ll always be there for him.
As a cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled that Channing Tatum will grace the screen in ‘Doomsday’. Though he’s been tight-lipped about his role, he did hint at the film’s grand scale. In his own words, “When I say it’s a big movie, that’s an understatement. I can’t find a word big enough to describe its size.” He went on to say, “I’m not eloquent enough with words to convey how massive this movie will be. It’s going to leave people speechless.
An Epic Cast
Despite the possibility that Ryan Reynolds might not reprise his Deadpool role, the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday” boasts an impressive ensemble. So far, the confirmed cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Thing.
Among the most significant announcements about the cast is that characters originating from Marvel Universe by 20th Century Fox will be joining the show, with several notable names making the transition. These include Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier, Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammar as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebeca Romijn as Mystique, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. It remains to be seen if other characters will also be included, such as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, so we’ll have to wait and find out.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
