Venom’s Debut Teased in Spider-Man: Brand New Day Fan Art

A significant curiosity among fans regarding the upcoming movie “Spider-Man: Fresh Start,” as shooting is ongoing in the U.K., revolves around whether or not the Venom symbiote will officially enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Tom Hardy’s character, Eddie Brock, and the symbiote made an appearance in a post-credits scene from “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” However, there has been no concrete information about whether director Daniel Destin Cretton plans to continue the storyline related to the symbiote started by Jon Watts in “No Way Home,” and if it will play any role in the forthcoming film. Nonetheless, we can all agree that incorporating the Venom symbiote would be a smart decision.

In his latest Instagram post, Mohd Harris from @welove__marvel shared a sneak peek of Tom Holland’s character, Peter Parker, possibly wearing a black Venom-infused suit. The artwork depicts a bare-faced Parker kneeling on a city street, struggling to remove the dark, gooey symbiote substance from his body. Notably, the source of the symbiote appears to be a long, green tail with a pointed end, which is entwined by the black tendrils. Remarkably, this tail seems to belong to the classic Spider-Man adversary, Scorpion, who has been frequently linked as one of Peter’s upcoming enemies in the movie Brand New Day.

Scorpion’s Return Would Pay Off an Unforgivably Dropped MCU Storyline

Mac Gargan, known as one of Spider-Man’s earliest adversaries, first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #19 back in December 1964. Significantly for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he also made his on-screen debut in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and was poised to return as a recurring antagonist in the sequel. However, Michael Mando’s menacing character seemingly disappeared from the storyline. For quite some time now, there have been whispers of Mando’s potential comeback, and hopefully, this signals his full-fledged reappearance on screen.

In a potential turn of events in Brand New Day, it’s possible that Gargan could be taking on the Venom symbiote once again, transforming his appearance. This fan art offers a credible depiction of how Peter might contract the Venom symbiote if Gargan already hosts or will host it in future issues. As the Venomized Scorpion, Mando could impressively step into the shoes previously filled by Tom Hardy’s portrayal of Venom.

Although some fans might be disappointed if Brock doesn’t feature in Brand New Day, the introduction of Gargan as another Venom host offers a new perspective on how the symbiote interacts with various characters, including Peter. Here’s to hoping that if Peter encounters the symbiote, it results in a more favorable portrayal compared to Tobey Maguire’s character in the critically panned Spider-Man 3.
