The game titled “Cyberpunk 2077” has received numerous accolades from critics due to several aspects such as the character Johnny Silverhand, portrayed by Keanu Reeves. In a recent chat with IGN regarding his upcoming film ventures, Reeves expressed interest in reprising his role for CD Projekt RED’s forthcoming sequel.
Reeves agreed eagerly when asked about reprising his role someday. He’s all for playing Johnny Silverhand once more.
If CD Projekt RED were to announce Keanu Reeves’ return as Johnny Silverhand in the sequel of Cyberpunk 2077, players who have completed the game might find themselves wondering about the plot details that would allow this to happen, given the events of the story. Please be aware that the following discussion contains spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077.
The fundamental narrative of the game, Cyberpunk 2077, primarily centers around a technological artifact known as The Relic. This intriguing piece was developed by the Japanese megacorporation Arasaka with the intention of granting immortality to its CEO, Sabura Arasaka, and it’s believed to have the ability to house a human soul. Following an explosive introduction, the plot of Cyberpunk 2077 transitions into the character known as V’s struggle for survival. As they grapple with understanding how to remove The Relic without causing harm to themselves.
As a gamer diving headfirst into Night City, I’ve come across an unexpected twist – the Relic housing fragments of the legendary Johnny Silverhand. Throughout my journey, he pops up during key story moments, adding a whole new layer to the gameplay.
The choices I make as V can drastically alter the finale of Cyberpunk 2077. The results vary from Johnny Silverhand fading into oblivion, to me making the selfless decision to give him another chance at life by sacrificing myself. It’s a rollercoaster ride that keeps me hooked!
If the next installment of Cyberpunk 2077 follows the storyline after the original’s events, it’s unlikely that Johnny Silverhand would appear unless there are flashbacks set before his fateful attack on Arasaka Tower in 2023. Should the sequel’s timeline extend beyond even that of Cyberpunk 2077, this would create a time gap of at least 54 years – the length of time between Silverhand’s raid on Arasaka Tower and the events depicted in the first game.
It seems that we might have to wait a while longer for the release of the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, as CD Projekt RED has yet to formally announce it. At present, they appear to be focusing more on developing The Witcher 4, with their team working on that project numbering 444 as of the end of July, while the team for the Cyberpunk sequel has grown to 116.
Over the past three months, our recruitment initiatives have accelerated substantially, leading to a 10% increase in our pool of skilled developers, bringing us close to 800 team members, as stated by joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski during an investor presentation. This expansion can largely be attributed to our two biggest development teams.
