The game “Neon Inferno,” developed by Zenovia and published by Retroware, has been pushed back from its initial October 2 launch date to November 20. Players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam can expect to play the game soon. Pre-orders for a physical copy of the game will be available shortly after the digital version is released.
At present, the game is essentially completed according to Sri Kankanahalli, creative director, as stated in a press release. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as just clicking a button to release it. We have to factor in the schedules and certification requirements of various platform providers, physical distribution companies, and Retroware itself, which has a busy fall schedule. We contemplated staging the launch by releasing on certain platforms before others, but ultimately opted for a simultaneous release, considering it worth preserving at all costs.
Kankanahalli explained, “To our advantage, the slight delay means we have extra time to fine-tune the gameplay for Neon Inferno, ensuring it’s nothing short of fantastic. Additionally, we might be able to include some additional features and content that were initially planned after its release. In essence, the wait will make Neon Inferno an even more exceptional game, and you’ll certainly appreciate the improvements.
Here is an overview of the game, via Retroware:
About
Drawing inspiration from iconic games such as Contra and Wild Guns, Neon Inferno immerses players in an alternate reality of a dystopian New York City in the year 2055. This dynamic game separates the action into both foreground and background, featuring numerous enemies and challenging bosses across its levels.
Under the auspices of Zenovia Interactive, with Retroware handling its publication, the game titled Neon Inferno places players in the shoes of either Angelo or Mariana, as they engage in a power struggle within a crime family that’s trying to rise above a crooked NYPD and rival crime organizations in a battle-scarred metropolis.
Using “Bullet Time,” players can redirect selected projectiles towards chosen enemies, regardless of their position in the foreground or background! Featuring various upgrades that can be equipped between missions, diverse difficulties including an Arcade Mode, and a two-player cooperative gameplay option, players have the freedom to approach their missions as they prefer.
Key Features

- Two-Player Cooperative Play – With danger lurking around every street corner, wouldn’t you be better off with a friend?
- Satisfying Arcade Challenge – Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode… or put your skills and resilience to the test with 1-credit-clear arcade mode.
