Charlie Sheen’s new documentary has left his daughter touched.
Sami Sheen openly discussed her thoughts upon finding out that her father, Charlie Sheen (who she’s been distant from for some time), decided to take on a path towards sobriety.
In a clip where she’s visibly emotional, the 21-year-old expressed that she had been unaware that her actions played a significant role in helping him overcome addiction.
She captioned the Sept. 11 TikTok video, “Honestly a 10/10 documentary.”
Charlie, who has Lola Sheen (age 21) with ex-wife Denise Richards, twins Bob and Max Sheen (age 17) with ex Brooke Mueller, Cassandra Estevez (age 40) with Paula Profit, also discusses a significant event from Sami’s childhood in the documentary as well as in his new memoir titled “The Book of Sheen.
In 2017, when Sami was thirteen years old, the event transpired. The former star of “Two and A Half Men” mentioned that it was his third cup of coffee and whiskey of the day when Sami phoned him in a panic: she had an appointment he’d overlooked, one that required him to drive her there.
Charlie asserted that he “never combined the cups with the wagon,” so he asked a trusted family acquaintance for a ride to Sami’s place.
During our ride home, Sam seemed unusually silent, Charlie noted. It wasn’t hard to guess what was going through her mind. Why isn’t Dad behind the wheel once more-as it’s always been before? Why is it just the three of us in the car instead of just the two of us like old times? When will those days return? When will Dad be back? I long for him.
The 60-year-old went on saying, “I deeply mourned him as well. There was nothing more painful than not being true to myself, and that was surpassed only by the disappointment I felt towards my kids. In that car, on that particular day, sitting with my dearest friend and a child I hold dear, I looked into the mirrors with Sam and saw a man who longed, more than ever, to truly return home.
In that pivotal moment, he made a commitment to living a sober life, and according to Charlie, he’s been able to maintain that choice ever since.
In his words, “Just as I’ve often emphasized, life is about action-takers and idle talkers, and at that point, there was nothing more for me to add.” He continued, “It was time to put an end to the chatter and start taking action. Sam wasn’t the last event that led me here; she was the first sign of success in my journey.
In a recent interview on Good Morning America, Charlie seemed unsure about what may have caused our estrangement. However, I traced the roots back to when he failed to reach out after my 2024 nose surgery. This omission sparked a series of text exchanges that eventually escalated into something significant. He started sending me some questionable messages, leading me to decide to end our communication on the Casual Chaos podcast in April.
For quite some time now, I’ve kept him from reaching me, blocking both his emails and phone number – even getting a new one on Christmas. He continued to send me odd messages that I found disturbing. To put an end to it all, I had to tell him not to contact me again under any circumstances as the whole situation was becoming too unhinged.

For many years, it was widely believed that Charlie Sheen accidentally shot Kelly Preston, his girlfriend at the time, in the arm while they lived together in 1990. Evidence for this included Preston’s wound and, well, given who Charlie Sheen is…
Here’s another option:
The common story for years has been that Charlie Sheen accidentally shot Kelly Preston, his girlfriend, in the arm during their time together in 1990. The evidence? Kelly had a wound, and with Charlie being who he was, it seemed plausible.
But that wasn’t really the case.
In 2011, TMZ reported that Preston, who passed away in 2020, stated the incident was unintentional when questioned about her ex’s actions amid newsworthy headlines. He had accidentally left the gun in his pocket, causing it to slip out and discharge.
And according to Sheen, he wasn’t even in the room.
As an ardent admirer, let me share a captivating moment from Charlie Sheen’s My Violent Torpedo of Truth Tour in 2016, held in Vancouver. Early one morning, I was busy brewing my coffee downstairs, assuming she was still catching some z’s upstairs. Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the house – a gunshot that sent a shockwave through me!
In my own words, as I recount what Preston shared, here’s how it went: “The small revolver I usually keep on me, it slipped out of the back pocket of my jeans and fell to the floor. As it did so, it discharged a bullet, which unfortunately struck her somewhere between her legs. Consequently, she was injured by debris from the toilet bowl.
During the court case against Heidi Fleiss in June 1995, where she was found guilty of tax evasion and money laundering, it emerged that Sheen had been among her most prominent customers.
According to a courtroom video testimony as reported by the Los Angeles Times, Sheen admitted that he spent over $50,000 on sexual services. He used Fleiss’ business to hire escorts on 27 occasions and also contacted “Heidi girls” directly at least 20 times.
Sheen acknowledged and expressed regret to his family, fiancée Donna Peele, and close friends for any awkward situations his actions might have created. Through his representative, he stated this in a public announcement. He offers no further justification for his behavior; instead, the truth about what transpired is fully detailed within his testimony. He calls it ‘the past’ because it isn’t happening anymore.
He and Peel tied the knot in September 1995 and divorced the following year.
In December 1996, Brittany Ashland alleged that the actor forcibly pulled her hair, shoved her to the ground, and left her unconscious at his residence located in the Los Angeles area.
In June 1997, Sheen was found guilty of a lesser charge for battery (which is considered a misdemeanor), and the court decided not to immediately imprison him but instead placed him on one year’s probation, with the added condition that he could be imprisoned if he violated any laws during those two years.
The “Hot Shots” actor expressed his appreciation to Judge Lawrence Mira, stating, “I find this decision quite fair,” and added, “rest assured, I have no intention of returning to this courtroom.
In May 1998, Martin Sheen, famous for his role on “The West Wing,” reported his son Charlie Sheen’s cocaine overdose to the authorities. As a result of this incident, which violated his probation from a 1997 assault case, a judge ordered Charlie Sheen into a drug rehabilitation program.
In 2008, Martin explained to AARP The Magazine that when he settled the bill, he discovered why the person was there. It turned out they had illegally consumed a substance and were on probation, making this a criminal case. This piece of information served as a means to pressure him; it gave me the upper hand. I presented this information in court and to the sheriff, and ultimately, it was my only way to resolve the situation.
During that period, it seemed like experiencing the most profound betrayal imaginable to me. I shared this sentiment during a September 2025 interview on Good Morning America, before the release of my raw Netflix documentary titled ‘aka Charlie Sheen’ and my memoir, ‘The Book of Sheen’.
Eventually, he came to view it as love, the actor from Major League added. “However, at that moment, it was similar to when the book’s bodyguard appears at the bedroom door and says, ‘You should know, the US Marshals are on their way. We need to leave in five.’
On the 15th of June, 2002, Sheen tied the knot with Denise Richards. Their daughter Sami Sheen was born on March 4, 2004, and Lola Sheen joined them on June 1, 2005, which was three months after Richards initiated divorce proceedings.
They briefly reconciled, but by early 2006 the split was back on.
Last April, Richards claimed that Sheen had physically pushed her and threatened to take her life when she sought a short-term protective order.
As a lifestyle advocate, I’d rephrase that statement as follows: In this scenario, I, personally, find myself in a situation where certain allegations have been brought forth against me. However, a judge has mandated a temporary distance of 300 feet between me and the individual involved, along with our shared daughters-except during supervised visits-for the time being.
In his statement, as reported by ABC News, Sheen clearly expressed that what occurred was despicable, unjustifiable, lacked any substance, and was a petty and childish attempt at character assassination. He stated that Richards is making certain accusations, but they have no basis in reality.
Six months after signing a custody agreement approved by both May and a judge, their divorce was finalized. Despite being amicable now, they had spent numerous years appearing in court, with Richards often becoming the subject of several of Sheen’s notorious Twitter outbursts.
On May 30, 2008, Sheen tied the knot with real estate entrepreneur Brooke Mueller. In March of the following year, they were blessed with twin boys named Bob and Max.
On Christmas Day, 2009, I found myself handcuffed in Aspen, Colorado, due to accusations of domestic violence. The authorities were summoned following reports that I had threatened my wife with a knife, holding it against her throat and warning, “You should be afraid.
Afterwards, both individuals sought treatment at a rehabilitation center. In August 2010, Charlie Sheen admitted guilt to a lesser charge of misdemeanor assault and was granted the opportunity to continue with treatment rather than serving time in prison.
In his statement, he expressed eagerness to abide by the court’s ruling, move forward with his life, and leave this matter in the past.
In October 2010, Sheen was admitted to the hospital due to an unexpected response to medication. This information came from his representative, who also mentioned that police were called to the Plaza Hotel in New York because of an emotionally distressed individual. While Richards and their daughters were staying in a different suite at the hotel, Capri Anderson was present in Sheen’s room during this incident.
On November 1, both he and Mueller initiated divorce proceedings. Sheen indicated their separation occurred on the day of their argument in Aspen. Their divorce was finalized in the year 2011.
The peculiar conflict between Sheen and the creator of Two and a Half Men, Chuck Lorre, in 2011 was hard to fully grasp, but the end result was that Sheen, who had been nominated for four Emmys, was dismissed from the popular CBS series following its seventh season.
In September, the dispute between Sheen and Warner Bros., where he claimed an unjust firing and sought a compensation of $100 million, was resolved with a reported settlement of $25 million.
Pondering back to the turbulent time when he boasted about the strong energy within him likened to a tiger’s blood and the female divine beings he associated with, Sheen realized a decade had passed, yet he hadn’t truly “achieving victory” as he claimed then.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment in 2021, he shared that others commented, ‘That was incredibly impressive and enjoyable to witness.’ He added, ‘It was thrilling to be involved in and backing such a lively event. We took a stand against the establishment. My reaction was something like, ‘Fantastic! I’m overjoyed I swapped early retirement for a hashtag.’
In November 2015, during an interview on Today, Sheen revealed that approximately four years prior to that, he had learned he was diagnosed with HIV.
He remembered feeling deeply down about his situation, and he admitted to excessive drug use, heavy drinking, and making poor choices. He takes full responsibility for that phase of his life.
Sheen stated that he had paid enough to individuals demanding his silence such that it significantly reduced what he could afford in the future.
So, in confirming his status, he hoped to “release myself from this prison.”
In 2021, Sami opted to reside with her father. However, as of April 2025, Sami stated that it had been over a year since she last spoke to Sheen, and approximately six months since their last text conversation.
On Gia Giudice’s Casual Chaos podcast, she revealed that he had been sending her some unusual messages. She explained that she had already blocked him for quite some time due to his inappropriate behavior, and felt the need to make it clear to him: “Do not attempt to contact me again because this behavior is outrageous.
In an interview on GMA in September 2025, Sheen expressed optimism about potential reconciliation by stating, “There’s always a chance of a brighter future,” but admitted, “The issue is, I’m not quite sure what actions I may have taken that require an apology. I’m unclear on what exactly I should be apologizing for.
However, the actor asserts that this situation isn’t permanent. They believe they can resolve it, as their past relationship holds too much value to be dismantled by a single event.
