As a die-hard Trekkie, I’m eagerly anticipating the new chapter for Star Trek as Paramount and Skydance join forces. One of my favorite TV series, the critically acclaimed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, is about to wrap up its journey. This summer, we learned that the show will conclude after a truncated fifth season. Although the fourth season won’t air until some time in 2026, fans like me are excited to uncover more details about Strange New Worlds‘ final season and what the creative team has planned for this grand finale. Thankfully, things appear to be progressing well, with cameras set to start rolling soon.
According to a chat with Screen Rant, Henry Alonso Myers, the executive producer of Strange New Worlds, shared an optimistic advance about the progress of Season 5. He noted that things are moving swiftly, and they’re currently smack-dab in the midst of it all. In fact, they plan to start filming within a week or so.
Strange New Worlds Ending Sooner Would Be Great for Star Trek

It seems that due to the positive acclaim Strange New Worlds has garnered and its impressive viewership, one might think Paramount would not be in a hurry to end the series. However, there are several advantages to how swiftly the final season of Strange New Worlds is materializing. Primarily, it demonstrates that things are running smoothly behind the scenes and there are no production hurdles. The creative team has a clear vision, and now they’re moving forward to execute it. Endings can often be challenging to pull off effectively, but it appears the Strange New Worlds producers are confident in their direction.
In the imminent future, “Strange New Worlds” is set to begin filming, potentially meaning minimal time between seasons – a welcome relief for viewers who often face extended breaks in today’s streaming TV landscape. Long pauses between seasons can negatively affect viewer enthusiasm as seen with the wait for “Stranger Things” Season 5 dampening some fans’ interest. Such delays can slow down a series, but it looks like “Strange New Worlds” will maintain its momentum and keep viewers hooked from the start.
Working on the stories in “Strange New Worlds” could lead to other exciting possibilities for the creative team. Myers has hinted at the idea of a follow-up series for “Strange New Worlds,” which would delve into an unexplored segment of Star Trek lore – the initial phase of Captain Kirk’s famous five-year mission. At the moment, their primary focus is (as it should be) wrapping up “Strange New Worlds” with a fulfilling finale. Once that’s accomplished, they can leverage the success of “Strange New Worlds” to craft another captivating science fiction tale.
From a die-hard cinema enthusiast like myself, it’s no secret that an earlier wrap for “Strange New Worlds” might align with the studio executives’ wishes. With Star Trek being a significant asset for Paramount post-merger, there’s a drive to strengthen the bond between television and film productions. Instead of having two distinct dialogues about these mediums, the ambition is to consolidate everything under one roof – a unified front for all things Star Trek.
As Paramount gears up to create new Star Trek movies, there’s a possibility they may seek TV shows that complement them and establish a cohesive universe. It will be intriguing to witness how these plans unfold.
