Todd McFarlane’s Gunslinger #50 Cover Revealed, Along With Skottie Young Variants (Exclusive)

Todd McFarlane’s studio is launching new cover art to mark the ongoing success of the expanded Spawn Universe, unveiling the main cover for December’s Gunslinger Spawn #50. This cover, sketched by none other than Todd McFarlane himself, is part of a year-long crossover event highlighting the milestone 50th issues of not just Gunslinger Spawn, but also related spinoffs King Spawn and The Scorched. This joint celebration, named the 50/50/50 event, includes a variety of variant covers featuring beloved characters from the long-running series.

Apart from Spawn, the Gunslinger Hellspawn is rapidly gaining popularity within the Spawn Universe, as stated by its creator Todd McFarlane. This new issue further develops our ’50/50/50′ event, continuing the innovative concepts we initiated in King Spawn #50. This timeless ‘out-of-time’ character provides us an opportunity to delve into his presence in today’s world and offer glimpses of his western past, with the Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger series adding depth to that aspect.

In the sequel of the crossover, titled Gunslinger Spawn #50, follows directly after King Spawn #50 and leads to The Scorched #50. The story is penned by popular writers Stephen Segovia and Carlo Barberi, who have concocted a tale about an ancient entity, older than time itself, that has re-emerged and now targets Spawn.

Alongside McFarlane’s highly anticipated issue of Gunslinger Spawn #50, there will be a special collection of variant covers and incentives. Notable artists like Skottie Young, Mark Spears, and Puppeteer Lee have contributed to this premium lineup. Intriguingly, both Skottie Young and Puppeteer Lee are releasing interconnected cover sets that span over the three issues. You can also expect eye-catching covers and exclusive deals to welcome new readers. McFarlane announced that he would be sketching original artworks for qualifying retailers again. At the pinnacle of the reward level lies Cover H, an exclusive 1:1000 Raw Pencil Virgin Variant by Todd McFarlane. This special edition includes a personal Spawn sketch, drawn by hand right into the book. Initially, 50 of these sketches will be created personally by McFarlane. Once those 50 are fulfilled, remaining sketches will be assigned randomly from a pool of renowned Spawn Universe artists, such as Jonathan Glapion, Carlo Barberi, Brett Booth, Stephen Segovia, and Jason Shawn Alexander. It’s important to note that the artist for the sketch is chosen at random and cannot be specified; ordering early doesn’t guarantee a McFarlane sketch either.

Every edition of Cover H comes with an exclusive signature by Todd McFarlane and a Certificate of Authenticity (CGC) from CGC’s Signature Series program. This certificate ensures that both the autograph and the included sketch are eligible for the series, and also verifies the authenticity of the sketch itself. Notably, McFarlane has promised never to sign Cover H again, making these copies a unique, one-time release.
