As an ardent fan, I’ve got to say that diving into Elden Ring’s Nightreign’s Deep of Night mode is quite the rollercoaster ride! It’s intentionally designed to push you to your limits, and trust me, it does just that. Despite sharing the same expedition structure as regular gameplay, Deep of Night introduces a plethora of fresh elements to keep things intriguing.

For example, in this challenging mode, you get your hands on weapons imbued with multiple passive abilities and debuffs. Talk about adding another layer of strategy to the already complex world of Elden Ring!

Additionally, the gameplay style also reverses the norm when it comes to early-game outposts, making them considerably harder due to the addition of new enemies with a distinct red color. Furthermore, Deep of Night introduces a mechanic called “Depths”, which raises the mode’s complexity as you advance further in the game.

Indeed, the Depths of Night in Elden Ring’s Nightreign are not merely obstacles of increased challenge. In fact, they harbor deeper mysteries and intriguing aspects that you should discover. Here’s a breakdown of what makes the Deep of Night’s Depths captivating:

1. Lore-rich environment: Delve into the rich history and lore hidden within the depths as you uncover hidden secrets and clues about Elden Ring’s world.
2. Challenging encounters: Brace yourself for difficult yet rewarding battles against formidable enemies that reside deep within the abyss, testing your skills and strategies.

What Are the Depths in Elden Ring Nightreign’s Deep of Night Mode

In Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll earn “levels” or “ranks” as you successfully complete Deep of Night Expeditions. Currently, there are 6 such levels in the game. The first two are somewhat like standard Expeditions but offer new items and randomized rewards. Although these early levels aren’t easy, they can still be handled with care.

In contrast, Deep of Night doesn’t follow the same pattern for Depths 3 and beyond. Starting from Depth 3, the game incorporates additional randomized elements and introduces the Nightlords, known as Everdark Sovereign Nightlords, as Day 3 bosses. Furthermore, in Depths 3 and up, some Expeditions keep the identity of the Nightlord a secret until you reach Day 3.

Here’s a rundown of all the Depths in Deep of Night:

  • Depth 1: Regular Expeditions with randomized loot and red enemies. Fixed Nightlord, which is disclosed at the start of an Expedition.
  • Depth 2: Similar to Depth 1 Expeditions, albeit with a higher frequency of red enemies and bosses.
  • Depth 3: Similar to Depths 1 and 2, but with Everdark Sovereign bosses as Nightlords.
  • Depth 4: Similar to Depth 3, but with randomized Nightlords, which are disclosed on Day 3.
  • Depths 5 and 6: Endless Depths, with consistent difficulty and randomization. Nightlords aren’t revealed during the Expedition until Day 3.

How To Progress Through Depths in Deep of Night

To advance in the Depths, all you need to do is finish the Deep of Night Expeditions. Upon completing an expedition, you earn Depth Experience Points (Depth XP), which help you progress through the Depths. However, be aware that the progression of Depth XP has a condition attached to it.

During a Deep of Night Expedition, you’ll earn Depth Experience points exclusively upon defeating the Nightlord at its conclusion. If you don’t manage to defeat the Nightlord or disconnect before the third day, you won’t receive any XP. However, attempting these expeditions will still grant you Depth Relics as a reward.
