Marvel’s Wolverine Release Window Leaked (And It’s Not Too Far Away)

Fans might not have to wait much longer for *Marvel’s Wolverine*. PlayStation has become famous for its high-quality, story-driven single-player games, usually based on new ideas. But they successfully applied this approach to a major superhero with *Marvel’s Spider-Man* on the previous console generation. That game was so popular that PlayStation bought the development studio behind it, Insomniac Games, and then gave them the chance to create a new game featuring another Marvel icon: Wolverine. The last Wolverine game came out in 2009, tied to the *X-Men Origins: Wolverine* movie, and it was celebrated for its brutal, yet enjoyable, combat that many compared to *God of War*.

After nearly twenty years, a Wolverine game from Marvel is finally on the way. It was first revealed in 2021, along with the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, but we haven’t seen much of it since. A short cinematic trailer didn’t show much of the story or even Wolverine himself. While some gameplay footage leaked after a hack two years ago, it was still an early, unfinished look at the game.

Marvel’s Wolverine Will Reportedly Release Next Year

There’s a lot of talk that we might see a new trailer for *Marvel’s Wolverine* very soon – possibly later this month, or at The Game Awards in December. PlayStation hasn’t officially confirmed anything, but fans are hopeful. In addition to the trailer, the website MP1st is reporting that the game could be released in 2026, though they don’t have a specific release timeframe yet. Of course, that’s just speculation at this point.

PlayStation often releases major games early in the year, including titles like *Horizon*, *Returnal*, *Days Gone*, and the 2018 *God of War*. They originally planned to launch *The Last of Us Part 2* in February 2020, but had to postpone it. This timeframe works well for PlayStation because there’s less competition, which is especially helpful now that *GTA 6* is coming out in May. Current indications suggest the upcoming *Wolverine* game will be rated for mature audiences, meaning it won’t appeal to families and can’t serve as a contrast to *GTA 6*.

If *Marvel’s Wolverine* isn’t released in late winter or early spring, it’s likely to come out in the fall – possibly in September or November. We’re hoping PlayStation and Insomniac Games will announce a release date soon, but for now, we’ll have to wait. Insomniac is also reportedly developing a *Venom* game, currently expected in 2027, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
