Shabana Azeez is folding her hand.
The actress from *The Pitt* shared a surprisingly common reason why she skips game night with her colleagues, like Noah Wyle and Fiona Dourif.
Shabana emphatically stated to *Live From TopMob* on the Emmys red carpet on September 14th that she wants to be excluded from future poker nights. She explained she doesn’t want to risk losing money to her boss and has no desire to participate, fearing significant financial losses.
She joked that everyone was trying to take advantage of her. She didn’t want to be cheated out of money and then have to go to work, explaining that you can’t trust the show’s producers – it’s too risky.
However, just because the 28-year-old-who wore a red Marchesa Couture gown to the 77th annual ceremony at Peacock Theater-doesn’t mean she won’t see her fellow actors at all. (Check out photos of all the stars on the red carpet here.)
She shared with host Zuri Hall that Noah had been a fantastic mentor to her during the first season. He helped guide her as she and the show-nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, with Noah up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Katherine LaNasa nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress-gained recognition.
I’m such a huge fan, and this season was incredible seeing him direct! Whenever I had a day off, I’d rush to set just to watch him work. He really took me under his wing and taught me so much. It was amazing to see all sides of him – not just as an actor, but as a director, executive producer, and even a writer, all rolled into one. He’s truly a force of nature!
Shabana reflected on the success of *The Pitt*, appreciating how the show had gradually gained a following.

Looking back on the first season, she described it as a very relaxed time. No one knew who they were or about the show, so there was no pressure – it was just easygoing.
Things are completely different now,” she explained. “We’re filming constantly, working long days – about twelve hours – and then immediately going to events. It’s a really fast-paced and energetic side of Los Angeles I hadn’t experienced before.
Despite everything, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be here and to be part of a show like *The Pitt* that’s making such a difference.”
