Eric Dane was a no-show for television’s biggest night.
Five months after publicly revealing his diagnosis of ALS, the former *Grey’s Anatomy* actor was scheduled to present at the 2025 Emmys. However, he was unable to attend the award show on September 14th, and his former colleague, Jesse Williams, presented the award alone at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

Earlier this year, Eric spoke publicly about his health challenges, expressing gratitude for the support of his family – including his children, 15-year-old Billie Beatrice and 13-year-old Georgia Geraldine, and their mother, Rebecca Gayheart – as they face this new phase together.
The actor, known for playing Cal Jacobs on *Euphoria* and returning for the third season, mentioned he’s prioritizing both his health and his future work.
He told *People* magazine in April that he was happy to still be working and excited about coming back to the HBO Max series.
Eric has repeatedly said that he wants to keep working for as long as he’s healthy, a feeling he’s shared in recent months.
Eric shared with TopMob News in June, while with his *Countdown* co-star Jensen Ackles, that he plans to continue working on their Amazon MGM Studios show for as long as possible. He explained that the series challenges him and helps him stay motivated, which is particularly important to him right now.
Despite the challenges of living with ALS, Eric says he feels good when he’s at work. He acknowledges there have been difficulties, but maintains a positive outlook. Ultimately, he believes his strong spirit is what’s most important.
