Fans have been waiting almost two years, but a popular show on Prime Video is finally back! Amazon Prime Video’s lineup for September 2025 includes several new titles, with the return of a highly anticipated superhero series being a major highlight. This series, which started as a spin-off from another hit show, began its second season and will release new episodes throughout September and October.
Season 2 of *Gen V*, the spin-off of *The Boys*, launched on Prime Video on September 27th. The new season started with three episodes, and new episodes will be released every Wednesday until the finale on October 22nd. Picking up where Season 1 left off, the season follows Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann as they return to Godolkin University. This season takes place as Homelander tightens his grip on the country and a new dean arrives. The season also honors the memory of Chance Perdomo, who played Andrew in Season 1.
Why You Should Watch Gen V Season 2
Gen V is easily one of Prime Video’s strongest shows, and a fantastic follow-up to The Boys. It builds on the world of the original series but also carves out its own unique identity. If you’re looking for a new superhero series, Gen V delivers with compelling characters, engaging storylines, a smart mix of dark humor and intense action, and connections to the original show that fans will appreciate.
Following a highly successful first season – earning a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 97% approval rating from critics and 77% from audiences – the second season of *Gen V* is also receiving strong reviews. Currently, it boasts an 89% score on the Tomatometer, based on 28 reviews, with critics calling it a vital addition to *The Boys* universe. One reviewer even suggested it could be *better* than the original series. Audience scores are still pending on Rotten Tomatoes.
What’s Next for Gen V?
New episodes of *Gen V* Season 2 will be released throughout late October. While it’s currently unclear if the show will be renewed for a third season, Amazon’s Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, expressed optimism about its future in 2023. Before the show premiered, Sanders told *Entertainment Weekly* that he anticipated many more seasons if viewers enjoyed it as much as Amazon staff did, stating, “If fans respond the way we have to *Gen V*, we’ll have many more seasons.”
Fans will need to wait for more updates on the future of *Gen V*, but can continue watching new Season 2 episodes every Wednesday on Prime Video. While they wait, Prime Video subscribers can enjoy other new shows added in September, including all five seasons of *Friday Night Lights*, the *Helluva Boss* spin-off from *Hazbin Hotel*, and the psychological thriller *The Girlfriend*. Plus, all six seasons of *The Good Place* will be available starting September 26th.
