The 1997 film *Anaconda*, featuring stars like Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight, was a popular, gory thriller that earned $126 million and led to several sequels. Now, a new version is in the works, and the trailer suggests it will be a comedic take on the original.
This new version of the movie is self-aware and tells the story of a group of friends who loved a classic ’90s film. They decide to remake it themselves, complete with a giant snake and all the exciting elements of the original.
I’m really excited about this new movie! It’s co-written and directed by Tom Gormican, who I loved with *The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent*. And the cast is incredible – Jack Black and Paul Rudd are leading the way, but they’re joined by Selton Mello, Daniela Melchior, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, and even Ione Skye. Columbia Pictures is putting together a seriously great group of actors for this one!
Anaconda is set for a 26th December release
