When facing a huge threat like Doctor Doom, even Marvel’s strongest heroes might not be enough. But what about Sentry? He’s incredibly powerful – possessing the force of a million exploding suns, reality-warping abilities, and immense strength – but also struggles with mental instability, making him a uniquely dangerous opponent. Even a team like the New Avengers or Thunderbolts couldn’t defeat him. While Doctor Doom is the primary villain in *Avengers: Doomsday*, Sentry (also known as Bob/The Void) is a wild card that could tear the superhero team apart. We last saw Bob (played by Lewis Pullman) at the end of *Thunderbolts*, calmly reading a book in The Watchtower (formerly Avengers Tower), intentionally avoiding conflict because he’s afraid he can’t control his powers.
The upcoming Doomsday event boasts an impressive roster, but it’s surprising to see some key, powerful characters still unconfirmed. These three missing characters could be crucial in stopping Sentry if his dangerous side resurfaces and takes control again.
1. Wanda Maximoff

Wanda’s powers, which allow her to warp reality and wield chaos magic, would be an ideal match against Sentry. While Sentry is incredibly powerful thanks to a special serum, his biggest vulnerability is his unstable mental state. His dark side, known as the Void, is a direct result of this instability. Wanda could potentially use her magic to break apart Sentry’s mind, separating him from the Void and effectively stopping him without a physical confrontation.
Wanda’s personal battles with grief and having her mind controlled give her a special ability to help Sentry deal with his own mental health issues. Rather than just fighting him, she could potentially enter his mind and help him come to terms with his inner darkness, similar to how the Thunderbolts rescued Bob from the Void. While this approach has been attempted before, it could be the key to saving the day and demonstrating the power of empathy.
2. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel and Sentry have powers that directly oppose each other. Both can absorb and use cosmic energy, but Captain Marvel’s ability to channel this energy makes her a strong match for Sentry. If they fought, it would be an incredibly powerful battle, and Captain Marvel could potentially absorb Sentry’s energy and use it against him.
Captain Marvel’s deep understanding of the universe and her strategic mind give her an advantage over Sentry, who lacks real-world experience. As a battle-hardened warrior, she’s faced galactic-level threats that most Avengers haven’t even imagined. Although Sentry is physically stronger, Captain Marvel’s experience, determination, and skills would enable her to exploit any weaknesses and use his own strength against him.
3. Vision

Fans have been waiting a long time for Vision to return. While a version of him, White Vision, will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series *VisionQuest*, it hasn’t been confirmed that Paul Bettany will reprise the role in *Doomsday*. Vision is a powerful opponent for Sentry because of his unique abilities. He can change his density and pass through objects, rendering Sentry’s physical attacks ineffective. Plus, Vision’s incredibly fast, computer-like mind would allow him to predict Sentry’s moves and turn the fight into a battle of wits rather than just strength.
If Vision still had the Mind Stone, its power, along with his artificial body, would protect him from Sentry’s mental attacks. Sentry couldn’t break his mind or use fear against him. Vision’s kindness and complex thought processes would allow him to stand strong against Sentry, offering a source of hope in the face of Sentry’s destructive force.
