You’re free to watch the event however and with whomever you like, but watching the whole thing usually unlocks special rewards and cosmetic items within the game.

What to expect from COD Next 2025

COD Next usually showcases the multiplayer and Zombies modes that will be available when the next Call of Duty game releases. This year’s game is Black Ops 7, being created by Treyarch and Raven Software.

I recently spoke with the team at Treyarch before they revealed Black Ops 7 at Gamescom. They shared seven key features that define the game’s experience. Black Ops 7 will introduce a brand-new PvE campaign players can enjoy after finishing the main game – a first for the Call of Duty series. Of course, the popular Zombies and Multiplayer modes will return, along with a new PvP mode called Skirmish and the revival of the beloved Dead Ops Arcade.

As a researcher following this new endgame content, I anticipate it will likely contain significant spoilers since it unfolds after the main campaign’s story. This means we probably won’t see extensive gameplay footage. However, the developers might release trailers or short teasers that give us a glimpse without revealing key plot points.

The event will likely showcase a lot of multiplayer action, including the new Skirmish mode. We’ll finally see the wingsuits in action, along with full reveals of the multiplayer maps, weapons, movement updates, and perks.

The upcoming Zombies map in Black Ops 7 seems to be taking a lot of inspiration from the popular TranZit map in Black Ops 2 and is expected to be a major announcement at the upcoming event. Recent leaks have also given us a first look at the characters who will be fighting to survive within the Dark Aether in this new installment.

We can expect updates to Call of Duty: Warzone, likely tied to the upcoming Black Ops 7. Since Warzone is connected to the main Call of Duty game each year, players will see new features like field upgrades, scorestreaks, weapons, and playable characters added to keep the experience fresh and aligned with the latest multiplayer content.

As an analyst tracking Warzone updates, I’ve been following the curious case of Area 99. It was a new, smaller Resurgence map Treyarch and Raven released alongside the Black Ops 6 integration, clearly taking inspiration from the classic Nuketown map. However, surprisingly, Area 99 was pulled from the Resurgence mode soon after it launched and hasn’t been available since.

I remember when Verdansk, the very first Warzone map, came back as the main map earlier this year. They did have an event that took the roof off the Stadium, but honestly, things haven’t changed much on the map since then, particularly when it comes to Resurgence mode. It’s been pretty static.

The C.O.D.E. Bowl

After the Call of Duty NEXT 2025 showcase, I’m excited to share that viewers can continue watching the official Call of Duty account for the sixth annual Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Bowl, presented by USAA. As part of the celebration, we’ll have a special C.O.D.E. Bowl VI flyover in Call of Duty: Warzone – visible on both Verdansk and Rebirth Island – from September 24th through October 1st.

Watch the C.O.D.E. Bowl for a chance to win early access codes for the Black Ops 7 beta, plus special in-game items for Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

The Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Bowl is an esports competition where military players from the US, UK, and Canada compete in Warzone. The winning team receives the prestigious C.O.D.E. Bowl trophy.
