Attack on Titan: Requiem Hit With Legal Subpoenas From Kodansha, Erasing Previous Videos

The epic story of *Attack on Titan* has officially concluded, with no current plans for continuation in either the manga or anime. Though the original creator, Hajime Isayama, hinted at possible future storylines, fans hoping for more adventures with the Scout Regiment may be out of luck. Adding to this, a fan-made project called *Attack on Titan: Requiem* has hit a snag. Kodansha, the company behind the anime, has issued legal notices regarding the project created by Studio Eclypse, putting its future in doubt.

The fan-made *Attack on Titan: Requiem* was released online for free on January 15th as an alternate ending to the anime series. Despite being a free project created by Studio Eclypse, it faced legal issues with Kodansha. According to Eclypse, they weren’t directly notified about any copyright complaints. Instead, Kodansha issued subpoenas to send them DMCA takedown requests directly. Eclypse has now removed the videos specified in the legal documents, just as they did when initially requested, but they wish they had been informed about the issue a month ago when it first arose.

The Requiem is in Danger

The fan-made story, *Requiem*, presents an alternate ending to *Attack on Titan*, imagining what would happen if Eren Jaeger had chosen a different path in the final moments. Instead of nearly wiping out humanity, this fifteen-minute segment shows Eren reconnecting with his father and vowing to continue fighting. While it didn’t completely reinvent the story, *Requiem* highlighted the impressive animation skills of its creators. Fortunately, *Attack on Titan* fans have gotten more content even after the main series ended, thanks to creator Hajime Isayama’s willingness to revisit the world, as seen in the short story *Attack on Titan: Bad Boy*, which explores the backstory of the popular character Levi.
