Halloween game launches September 8, 2026

Okay, so I’m super excited – the new *Halloween* game is officially coming out on September 8, 2026! IllFonic and Gun Interactive just announced it’ll be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. I’ll be able to play it solo or with friends, which is awesome. I’ve been waiting for this for a while!

Here are the latest details, via PlayStation Blog:

The 1978 film *Halloween* was a game-changer for horror, and it’s a film our team deeply loves. That’s why we’re thrilled to be working with Malek Akkad, Ryan Freimann, and Gun Interactive to create the first big video game based on the world of Haddonfield and the terrifying Michael Myers. We’re especially excited to reveal a first look at gameplay and the release date, and we’re doing that in partnership with PlayStation.

Since the beginning, *Halloween* has been designed to be a truly terrifying and immersive horror experience. You can enjoy it by playing through a single-player story, or by joining asymmetrical multiplayer matches where players face off against each other. We want players to feel like they’re making their own horror movies, whether they’re controlling the iconic Michael Myers or playing as one of the citizens of Haddonfield. Our team is working hard to create a convincingly charming 1970s suburban town, filled with people who players can choose to protect or terrorize.

You play as Michael Myers, and your mission is to eliminate all the residents of Haddonfield before Halloween night is over. While you, as the infamous “Boogeyman,” carefully plan your attacks, the townspeople go about their normal lives, unaware of the danger. Players are encouraged to fully embrace the role of a terrifying villain, using Michael’s power to creatively and brutally murder anyone who gets in his way. We’ve included a wide variety of gruesome ways to eliminate victims, which we think horror fans will really enjoy. We also want players to experience Michael’s signature ability – his unpredictable appearances and sudden attacks, known as “Shape Jump.”

Luckily, the people of Haddonfield have heroes who can try to stop Michael Myers and save their neighbors. As a hero, you need to warn people about the danger, convince them to call the police, and find weapons to defend yourselves. If you’re persuasive enough, you can even lead people to safety, including to a police-organized escape route. While you can temporarily stun Michael, you can’t kill him. But if enough police arrive, they can finally capture him.

As a huge fan, I’m so excited about how the developers are approaching the new *Halloween* game! They really want Haddonfield to feel like a real, living place when you jump in. They’re focusing on making every match tense and unpredictable with things like changing environments, realistic people wandering around, and lots of different ways to play. Knowing they’ve made similar horror games before, I feel confident they *get* what fans like me want. Plus, they’re not just stopping at multiplayer – they’re letting us experience the story of “The Night He Came Home” from Michael Myers’ perspective in a dedicated single-player mode, which is seriously awesome!

We’re thrilled to finally show everyone how the game plays, and we’re so grateful you’re experiencing it with us! This first look is just a small preview of what we think will be a uniquely terrifying and immersive horror game, and we can’t wait to reveal more in the months ahead.
