Olympic Figure Skater Alysa Liu Removing D4vd Music From Routine

Alysa Liu is gliding in a new direction.

The figure skater has changed the music for her short program as she trains for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. She will no longer be using songs by D4vd – who is connected to a police investigation regarding the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez – and Laufey for the 2025-2026 season.

Following recent events, I and my team are moving forward with a new path that better reflects my personal beliefs and creative approach,” Alysa shared on Instagram on September 24th. “I’m excited to begin developing fresh ideas and want to make sure I have the time and space to do so thoughtfully.

The 20-year-old, who surprisingly won the World Championship in March after previously retiring from competitive skating in April 2022, also said she plans to perform her established routines for now.

She added that viewers might still see some of their favorite shows, and expressed gratitude for their continued support.

Earlier this month, Los Angeles police discovered the remains of Rivas Hernandez in the front trunk of a Tesla owned by 20-year-old D4vd. They found the body after responding to a report of a bad smell coming from the car, which had been held at a Hollywood impound lot for several days. The vehicle had been towed from the Hollywood Hills after being reported as abandoned.

When authorities made the disturbing discovery, D4vd was touring in support of his first album, *Withered*. He has now canceled the rest of his concerts in the United States.

The official cause of death for Rivas Hernandez is still under investigation, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office obtained by TopMob News. Her family received her remains on September 23rd, as confirmed by officials to TMZ.

Although the Los Angeles Police Department hasn’t identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case, a representative for the singer D4vd confirmed to NBC News last week that he is cooperating fully with the investigation.

For more about D4vd and details about the case, read on.

D4vd, whose full name is David Anthony Burke, was born in Queens, New York, and later moved to Houston, Texas, at the age of 13.

D4vd started his career by streaming games like Fortnite on YouTube, hoping to gain popularity. In 2021, he faced issues with copyrighted music in his videos and asked his mom for help.

He explained to Benny Blanco in an interview with *Hero* magazine (September 2024) that he felt lost and frustrated, telling his mom he wasn’t earning any money. She simply told him to focus on making his own music and left him to it, which made him realize he could actually try doing that himself.

D4vd, who hadn’t had any formal musical training beyond casual singing, began creating music using an app on his phone. His songs quickly gained popularity online, and as more of his original tracks went viral on TikTok, his music career started to flourish.

He finally released his first album, *Withered*, in April 2025, and quickly began his first tour around the world.

On September 8th, police were sent to a Hollywood tow yard after reports of a bad smell coming from a car, according to NBC News sources.

I was shocked to hear the news – police discovered human remains inside a Tesla, and it’s been confirmed the car was registered to David Burke, who you probably know as the artist D4vd. Apparently, they found the remains wrapped in a bag in the front trunk of the vehicle, and it was registered in Hempstead, Texas, under his full name.

I heard the car was found abandoned up in the Hollywood Hills, and the police had it towed to the impound lot. It’s a shame, but hopefully, whoever owns it can get it back!

On September 16th, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that remains found in a Tesla belonged to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since April 5, 2024. She was 13 years old when she disappeared.

According to records from the Medical Examiner’s Office obtained by TopMob News on September 17th, a final determination of the cause of death is still pending. While she was found on September 8th, officials believe her body had been in the car for a significant amount of time beforehand and was badly decomposed.

After learning about the death of Rivas Hernandez, a representative for D4vd told NBC News that the singer has been notified and is working with law enforcement while continuing his tour.

Since then, D4vd canceled the remainder of his U.S. dates.
