New Wolverine actor revealed as Insomniac game confirms release window

After a long wait, yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play presentation finally shared updates on Marvel’s Wolverine, and revealed who will play the main character.

Ever since Marvel announced Wolverine in 2021, gamers have been really excited about it, but we haven’t heard much about how the game is coming along.

Along with a new trailer and the official game cover, Insomniac Games has announced who will voice the main character.

It’s fitting that after playing the role for twenty years, Hugh Jackman will be succeeded by fellow Australian actor Liam McIntyre in the upcoming Insomniac game.

McIntyre explained that while fans are already familiar with the character of Wolverine, his role is to capture the core of who Wolverine is, specifically within the context of their story.

He’s been hurt, used, and betrayed, but still dedicates himself to helping those who are vulnerable and need a voice.

Liam McIntyre is most famous for starring as the main character in the TV series *Spartacus: Vengeance* and *Spartacus: War of the Damned*. He also has experience working in video games.

He voiced JD Fenix in *Gears of War 4* and *Gears of War 5*, and most recently portrayed Taron Malicos in *Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order*.

Yesterday’s State of Play presentation not only showed off Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but also announced the game’s expected release timeframe: Marvel’s Wolverine is now planned to launch between July and December of 2026.

Here’s what PlayStation says about the game’s content, according to their official blog:

This story follows Wolverine as he tries to unravel the mysteries of his hidden past. But getting answers won’t be easy – he’ll have to fight tooth and nail for every clue.

Wolverine usually fights by aggressively taking down waves of enemies determined to stop him, no matter what it takes. He’s incredibly tough and heals quickly, so he’s very hard to defeat, especially when he’s focused on completing his mission.
