I’m really looking forward to *Ninja Gaiden 4*, which is coming out in October. It’s a collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, promising a fast-paced and very difficult action game. Recently, project manager Joe Muntal showed off the assist features in Hero Mode, like automatic blocking, dodging, and health recovery.
He also showed off the first gameplay of Master Ninja, the game’s hardest difficulty setting. Once you choose it, you’re locked in for the entire playthrough. Expect enemies to be much more relentless, constantly attacking Yakumo and not waiting for their turn. Success on this difficulty requires perfect timing and skillful play, but thankfully, a dedicated Training Mode is available to help you practice.
Ninja Gaiden 4 will be released on October 21st for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A recent gameplay showcase from Gamescom 2025 highlights the different weapons and special Bloodraven Form abilities Yakumo can use. You can also see real-life versions of Yakumo and Ryu Hayabusa’s swords, crafted by a skilled swordsmith, at this link.
