One Marvel Hero That Could Give the MCU’s Sentry a Run for His Money Started Out as a Joke

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the balance of power has experienced a significant shift, and this will never be the same. Despite being a team of anti-heroes with limited power, the upcoming movie titled “Thunderbolts” presents Bob, the last survivor of Project Sentry. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine seeks to exert influence over Earth’s potential future savior by mentoring Bob, fueling his inflated sense of self-importance. However, there is a malevolent force hidden within Bob that grows displeased with Valentina’s approach once it becomes clear that he will not adhere to the established guidelines. The Void unleashes chaos in New York City, prompting the Thunderbolts to appeal to Bob’s human side, which ultimately results in them expelling his unwanted guest from the city.

At the conclusion of Thunderbolts, Bob finds himself taking a respite within Avengers Tower, deliberately keeping distance from becoming Sentry due to his apprehension about unleashing The Void once more. However, his temporary absence from action is not sustainable, as ominous threats loom on the horizon. In a fortunate turn of events, the Marvel Cinematic Universe could bring in another hero with an intriguing backstory as an alternative to Sentry when these dangers arise.

Lectronn Has Fought Sentry and Lived to Tell the Tale

Numerous Marvel Comics characters have found their way into internet memes, yet few have faced as much mockery as Lectronn. His debut was on a magazine cover that turned out to be a fake image. Despite boasting an eye-catching costume and what seemed to be extraordinary abilities, Lectronn didn’t exist in reality at first. He remained unsold for years before making his official appearance during the “Civil War” storyline. He was imprisoned and sent to the Negative Zone alongside other heroes who opposed the Superhero Registration Act. However, Captain America came to Lectronn’s aid, which eventually led him to be part of one of the most memorable group shots in that event.

Lectronn continued as a member of Team Cap, and in one additional comic strip, he was seen fighting Sentry who was on Team Iron Man. Initially, it was uncertain how he managed such a remarkable battle, but later, his origin story emerged in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z. The guide disclosed that Thomas Samuels lost his legs due to polio, but an alien race bestowed upon him extraordinary powers, such as super-strength and energy control. Not much is known about Lectronn at present, leaving plenty of room for creativity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The MCU Could Mold Lectronn Into Something Unique

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled about Lectronn, whose limited appearances have just scratched the surface of his potential. His backstory is intriguing, yet it seems that none of its key elements are indispensable to his character. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) could seize this opportunity by adopting his name and powers, carving their own path for him. Gone are the days of playing it safe; with Marvel Studios aiming to regain audience trust following a series of missteps, introducing a new hero who can captivate us on the big screen seems like a brilliant move. This way, we’ll be able to witness his evolution from the very beginning, making the journey far more rewarding than trying to catch up with what’s already been established.

In addition, there’s the character known as Lectronn who serves to balance things out. The finale of Thunderbolts weakens Sentry due to his excessive power. If he manages his abilities properly, no one in the multiverse can stand against him. Yet, if there is at least one character capable of pushing him to the brink, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) can allow him to showcase his full potential occasionally. It’s not that Lectronn is exclusively designed to diminish Sentry, but it would be advantageous for them to compete on even ground, considering the franchise’s latest powerhouse. This doesn’t mean that Lectronn will solely focus on bringing Sentry down a notch, but it would give him the respect he deserves after years of mismanagement, as opposed to being trivialized if he spars with Sentry.
