Maxwell House Is Changing Its Name After 133 Years

Time to grab a new version of the coffee that’s good to the last drop.

The well-known coffee brand Maxwell House, originally launched in 1892, is changing its name to Maxwell Apartments.

Maxwell House, a brand owned by Kraft Heinz and originally named after the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, recently announced a change aimed at appealing to budget-conscious consumers. In a press release on September 26th, the company explained that with nearly a third of people choosing to rent rather than buy a home, value is especially important right now. Maxwell House wants to connect with these coffee drinkers where they live-their rental homes.

This is a good reminder that, for over 130 years, this brand has been known for delicious, reasonably priced coffee, letting you enjoy a great cup at home without spending cafe prices.

Okay, so you guys, get this! Starting September 29th – National Coffee Day, of course – Maxwell House is doing something AMAZING. They’re releasing these super cute, limited-edition canisters – they’re calling them ‘Apartment Canisters’ – and each one is filled with a YEAR’S worth of coffee! It’s seriously perfect because, like, most apartment leases are for 12 months, and this gives you coffee for the *whole* lease! I need one immediately!

According to Holly Ramsden, Head of Coffee for Kraft Heinz North America, two-thirds of adults in the United States drink coffee daily, and that cost can really add up, particularly with today’s prices.

Ramsden explained that both she and Maxwell House are committed to ensuring everyone has access to delicious coffee.

Maxwell Apartment continues to offer the great taste everyone expects, and at a price that recognizes our customers’ smart financial decisions.

Maxwell Apartment isn’t the only company that’s recently changed its name. Bed Bath & Beyond, the well-known home goods store, came back from bankruptcy in 2023 with a new identity: Bed Bath & Beyond Home.

Oh my gosh, you guys, they *finally* opened the new store in Nashville last August, and it was incredible! But get this – as a total nod to how it all started, they said they’d *accept old coupons*! Like, coupons people have been holding onto for YEARS! Can you believe it? It’s like they totally get us, the longtime fans, and it was such a sweet way to show they remember where they came from. I almost cried!

“This is more than just a retail space,” explained Amy Sullivan, CEO of Brand House Collective, in a recent announcement. “It represents a new beginning for a brand that holds a lot of meaning for many families.”
