Outlander: Blood of My Blood showrunner teases potential future spin-offs

Now that Outlander: Blood of My Blood is out, many fans are curious if this is just the beginning of a new wave of spin-off shows set in the Outlander world.

I’ve been hearing whispers for ages about a Lord John Grey spin-off, and it always seemed likely. But honestly, after getting so invested in ‘Blood of My Blood,’ I’ve started wondering if *other* characters deserve their own series even more! It’s made me think – who really stood out as spin-off material?

I won’t reveal who yet – that’s something we’ll discuss during our next interview on the show! But yes, we have a central storyline, like a main river, and lots of smaller stories, like its tributaries, that could each support their own shows.

It definitely looks like there’s still a lot of potential for future stories and adventures with Outlander!

While no new Outlander spin-offs have been officially announced, season two of ‘Blood of My Blood’ is happening, and the last season of the original ‘Outlander’ series will premiere next year. That means fans still have a lot to look forward to!

Some viewers were a little puzzled by the show’s choice to start a completely new storyline in ‘Blood of My Blood,’ especially since the character of Lord John had already been established in Diana Gabaldon’s original books.

Maril Davis, the showrunner and executive producer of Outlander, has mentioned they still want to create a spin-off series. However, they decided it wasn’t the right time to start with that particular idea as their first spin-off.

The new season of Outlander, titled Blood of My Blood, began airing in the UK on MGM+ on August 9th, with new episodes released each week. If you’re interested in reading the original Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon, they are available for purchase on Amazon.
