Who says you can’t have Selena Gomez‘s wedding hair?

The artist known for “Same Old Love” tied the knot with Benny Blanco on September 27th in Santa Barbara, California. For the occasion, she wore a satin halter-neck dress designed by Ralph Lauren, and her shoulder-length hair was styled in a timeless, old Hollywood bob by Renato Campora.

The hairstylist-collaborating with Joico-explained how he created Selena’s gorgeous look. He began by washing her hair twice with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo, followed by a 30-minute treatment using the Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque.

Next, Renato styled Selena’s hair for her wedding by using a rat-tail comb to make a deep side part. He then divided her dark brown hair into two-inch sections, starting at the back of her neck.

He described his method, saying, “Every section of hair receives Joico JoiWhip Design Foam, applied from the roots to the tips. Then, it’s blow-dried using a large round brush and pinned up to cool and hold the style.” He continued, “I repeated this process all over the head to create a full, smooth foundation.” Once the hair has cooled, it’s visibly shiny, bouncy, and full of life.

Following that, Renato moved on to styling Selena’s hair to achieve her desired look. He worked in one-inch sections starting at the front of the Only Murders in the Building actress’ head.

He explained that he first applied Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector liberally to each section of hair to shield it from heat. Next, he used a three-quarter-inch spring curling iron to create a marcel wave pattern, securing each curl with a pin while it cooled and set.

The hairstylist kept repeating this method before allowing the curls to set for around 20 minutes. Then, he took out the pins and carefully brushed her hair to combine the waves seamlessly.

Renato noted that the pieces designed to frame the face receive particular care, as they’re cut to emphasize and improve the natural shape of the face.
