However, October 2025 stands out as a particularly strong month for new releases, especially for those who own a PlayStation. While Ghost of Yōtei is expected to be a highlight, the month boasts a diverse range of exciting games across many different genres. If you can’t find a game to enjoy on PS5 in October, it’s likely a personal preference issue! There truly seems to be something for everyone.

27) Ghost of Yōtei

As a gamer, I’m super hyped for Ghost of Yōtei – it’s the biggest first-party release PlayStation fans are getting this fall! It’s a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, and this time we get to play as a brand new character in a completely new area packed with stuff to discover. If you were a fan of the original, I’m telling you, you’re going to love hunting down the Yōtei Six. Seriously, it looks amazing!
26) Digimon Story: Time Stranger

Time Stranger is the latest installment – the seventh game – in the popular Digimon Story series. Initial previews suggest the game aims to satisfy fans of the classic Digimon Adventure anime, and reviewers have highlighted its complex and engaging battle system.
25) Finding Paradise
- Release Date: October 8, 2025
- Other Platforms: PC, Switch, Xbox
Finding Paradise is the third installment in the series that started with To the Moon, and it continues the story of doctors Eva Rosalene and Neil Watts. The game originally came out on PC in 2017, but this version is now available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Fans are hoping that the prequel, Imposter Factory, will be released on those platforms soon too.
24) Absolum

Absolum is a beat-em-up game with side-scrolling action, brought to you by Dotemu. It adds some roguelike features to make each playthrough different, but the biggest draw is Dotemu themselves. They have a great track record of releasing excellent, retro-inspired games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. Let’s hope they continue to deliver!
23) Yooka-Replaylee

As a big fan, I’m so excited about Yooka-RePlaylee! It’s basically a refreshed version of the first game, and the developers have made a lot of really smart changes and improvements to make it even better. If you’ve already spent a lot of time with the original, there’s a *ton* new stuff here, but honestly, I think this is going to be the definitive way to experience Yooka-Laylee.
22) Battlefield 6
- Release Date: October 10th, 2025
- Other Platforms: PC, Xbox
Even though it’s called Battlefield 6, this is actually the eighteenth installment in the popular shooter franchise. It’s rumored to be one of the priciest games created, and the developers are hoping new features like the “Kinesthetic Combat System” will be worth the investment. The negative reception of Battlefield 2042 could deter some players, but EA is confident this game will revitalize the series.
21) Little Nightmares III

Little Nightmares III marks a first for the series – it’s not being developed by Tarsier Studios. This time, Supermassive Games, known for creating Until Dawn and The Quarry, is handling development. Ball x Pit is essentially a roguelike take on Brick-Breaker. While it shares similarities with the classic arcade game, you have greater control over your paddle. Beyond that, the game also incorporates elements of city-building to enhance your progress, creating a unique and engaging experience that blends different genres in fresh ways.
17) Overthrown
- Release Date; October 16th, 2025

Overthrown has been available on PC in early access since late 2024, and now it’s officially launching with version 1.0 and on consoles in October. This city builder, playable with 1 to 6 players, is similar to Stardew Valley, but with a more fast-paced and unpredictable feel, and presented in 3D.
16) Jurassic World Evolution 3

As a big fan of building and management games, I’m really excited about Evolution 3, the newest offering from Frontier Developments. And if you’re like me and loved Jurassic Park, you’ll be thrilled to hear that Jeff Goldblum is reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the campaign mode! It’s going to be awesome having him back.
15) Ninja Gaiden 4
- Release Date: October 21st, 2025
- Other Platforms: PC, Xbox
Developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 lets you play as a new character, Yakumo, though you can also control the series’ main hero, Ryu Hayabusa. Regardless of who you choose, Ninja Gaiden 4 appears to deliver the familiar, fast-paced action combat that fans have come to expect.
14) Painkiller
- Release Date: October 21st, 2025

Painkiller is a fresh start for the well-known first-person shooter, created by Anshar Studios and published by 3D Realms. The original game, released in 2004, was the first title from People Can Fly, establishing them as a skilled team in the FPS genre. Anshar Studios is primarily recognized for the cyberpunk isometric RPG Gamedec, making it interesting to see what new features they bring to this reboot.
13) Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

After a long and difficult development process, Bloodlines 2 is now officially moving forward. Dispatch features Aaron Paul as a once-powerful superhero now handling emergency calls at the Superhero Dispatch Network. The game, created by AdHoc Studio, will release new episodes every week, meaning you can expect to play through at least November 12th.
11) Double Dragon Revive
- Release Date: October 23rd, 2025

Double Dragon Revive, created by Yuke’s, aims to recapture the original spirit of the Double Dragon series. Players can enjoy traditional 2D beat-’em-up gameplay, but with updated graphics. The game features more than 50 different mission types, offering a lot of variety as you progress through the story.
10) Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted

Okay, so this is a complete overhaul of the original Plants vs. Zombies! They’ve really upped the visuals with higher-definition graphics, and now it’s got full multiplayer, which is awesome. But don’t worry, it’s still the same PvZ gameplay we all know and love – just looking a lot prettier and letting you play with friends!
9) Once Upon a Katamari
- Release Date: October 24th, 2025
- Other Platforms: PC, Switch, Xbox
Once Upon a Katamari is a brand new game in the Katamari series, and the first original installment since 2011. It features the familiar, classic gameplay you know and love. The goal is to roll your adhesive ball around various environments, increasing its size as much as possible to satisfy the King of All Cosmos.
8) Halls of Torment
- Release Date: October 28th, 2025

Halls of Torment, which has been available on PC and mobile for a year, is now coming to consoles. It’s an action RPG similar to Diablo, but it also features the automatic attacking style found in Vampire Survivors. 7) Wreakreation

4) Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake

This package includes two classic RPGs. They’ve been updated with beautiful HD-2D graphics, similar to the style of Octopath Traveler. It’s a perfect starting point for anyone new to this popular, ongoing series.
3) Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

Digital Eclipse’s latest compilation focuses on the iconic Mortal Kombat series. This collection brings together the initial four MK games, along with various spin-off titles released during the PlayStation 1 generation. Besides playing the games, you can also explore a wealth of behind-the-scenes content and interviews from NetherRealm Studios.
2) Mina the Hollower

Yacht Club Games found great success with its Shovel Knight games. Now, with Mina the Hollower, they are moving beyond that popular series to explore a new idea. The gameplay is reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Ages, but visually it’s closer to a Castlevania game with characters that have human-like qualities.

The Tales series has proven to be very successful for Bandai Namco. The company recently announced, celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary, a new Tales Remaster Project, and Xillia is the first game to receive this treatment.
