Publisher Dotemu, along with developers Guard Crush Games and Supamonks, are getting ready to launch Absolum, a roguelite beat-’em-up game known for its beautiful, hand-drawn art style.
That team also handles the art direction and animation for the game, and it has consistently looked impressive in the trailers.
Hopefully you’re still excited, because Supamonks is also developing an animated TV series based on Absolum.
According to a press release, the upcoming adaptation will expand on the existing story and world from the game, while remaining faithful to its core themes and spirit – essentially, “staying true to the essence” of the original.
We’re really thrilled to be creating this animated series because Supamonks has been part of the Absolum project from the beginning,” says Supamonks CEO Julien Bagnol-Roy. “Our teams have been instrumental in developing this universe from the start, so turning it into an animated series feels like a natural and exciting progression of our work. It’s a fantastic chance to bring a fresh perspective to a world we already understand so well.
We don’t have any further information about the TV show right now. It seems to be in the very beginning stages of development, considering the game it’s based on hasn’t even been released yet.
Absolum arrives on October 9th for both PS5 and PS4, and exciting news for fans – an animated series is also on the way!
