Today marks the start of operations for Vantage Studios, a new studio formed through a partnership between Ubisoft and Tencent.
The company operates as a part of a European game publishing group, and receives some financial support and ownership from a large Chinese conglomerate.
As reported by VGC, Vantage Studios chose its name through a staff vote. The company, led by co-CEOs Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot, will officially begin operations on 1st October 2025.
So, I’ve learned that Vantage Studios isn’t just one studio – it’s actually a collection of different Ubisoft teams! It brings together folks from places like Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, and even international teams in Barcelona and Sofia. Pretty cool to see all that talent combined, right?
The team will be responsible for overseeing three key game series: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. The goal is to give Vantage more control and allow for greater creative input as Ubisoft moves away from a highly centralized system.
This company is considered the initial ‘Creative House’ within Ubisoft’s larger strategy, and more will be created to manage additional, currently unestablished, game franchises.
As a big fan, I’m really curious to see how this new change impacts the way games are made in these series. I’ve heard Ubisoft can be a bit chaotic internally, but this definitely *feels* like a good move, and hopefully a step towards making even better games. It’s interesting to see them try something new, and I’m cautiously optimistic!
