The latest batch of free games for PlayStation Plus in October 2025 has a slight downside. Usually, new games become available at the beginning of each month – specifically, on the first Tuesday, when PlayStation removes the old free titles and adds the new ones. However, due to how the calendar falls this year, the newest three PS Plus games are launching much later than normal.
Even though it’s now October 2025, the new PS Plus games won’t be available for almost another week. Because the first Tuesday of October is later than usual this year, Sony won’t release the free PS Plus games until as late as possible. If you were hoping to download and start playing them this week, you’ll need to wait until October 7th.
These PS Plus Games Will Be Worth the Wait
The wait has been long, but the PS Plus games for October are expected to be well worth it. This month’s selection is led by Alan Wake 2, the highly praised survival-horror game created by Remedy Entertainment. Alan Wake 2 originally came out in 2023 and received fantastic reviews, even earning Game of the Year awards from several sources. It’s likely the best game added to PS Plus all year, and it’s arriving just in time for the Halloween season.
Cocoon will be available on PS Plus this month and has been highly praised. Released in 2023, Cocoon is published by Annapurna Interactive and challenges players to solve puzzles within a vibrant and enigmatic world. Notably, it was created by the designer behind Limbo and Inside, making it a great choice for those who enjoyed those classic 2D platformers.
Finally, Goat Simulator 3 completes the PlayStation Plus lineup for October. It’s definitely more lighthearted than the other two games offered this month, but it’s also a fan favorite! Players can enjoy a huge open world where they’re free to create all kinds of mayhem. It’s the easiest game of the three to pick up and play, and it’s a great choice if you want something to make you laugh.
