Taylor Swift swore she was gonna marry him someday.
However, that doesn’t mean she’s given much thought to her wedding before Travis Kelce proposed in August. Actually, Taylor recently shared that she only has very general ideas about her future wedding and bachelorette party, explaining that her friends and family’s busy schedules will affect her planning.
“The thing is, everyone is spread out all over,” Taylor explained to Heart Breakfast’s Emma Bunton on October 3rd. “You’d assume I’d always dreamed about my wedding, but I honestly never gave it any thought until I met the right person.”
Oh my gosh, when someone *finally* asked her about her bachelorette party, she was so cute! She actually said, “I haven’t actually even thought about that, like doing a hen do. This is the first time I’ve thought about that.” I literally melted! It’s just… she’s so focused on everything else, she hadn’t even gotten to planning a hen do yet! Can you believe it? It’s adorable! I’m already brainstorming ideas, even though I haven’t been invited… yet! I’m just so excited for her and want everything to be perfect. Seriously, she’s the best, and I’m living for this moment. I can’t wait to see what she decides!
Although the Grammy winner has a great group of female friends-including famous pals like Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Sophie Turner and Gigi Hadid-who would probably celebrate with her, Taylor also mentioned, “They’re a lot of fun, but they all have very busy schedules.”
Although plans for her upcoming wedding and all the related festivities are still being finalized, Taylor is excited to share how happy she is to be engaged-and how much she loves the ring her fiancé picked out.
“He created it in collaboration with a truly talented jeweler,” Taylor excitedly shared. “Kindred Lubreck is the artist, and she personally hand-engraves all of her gold pieces.”
The artist behind Life of a Showgirl explained that the selection of the designer demonstrated how Travis consistently pays attention to what his fiancée likes.
“I showed him a video,” Taylor explained. “I simply thought her work was really interesting. I actually showed it to him about a year and a half ago, and he was really focused on all the details, as it turned out.”
She explained, “My first thought when I saw the ring was, ‘I immediately recognized the maker, I knew exactly who created it!’ And I also thought, ‘You need to pay attention to what I’m saying.’”
Actually, Travis doesn’t just listen to her; he appears to understand her preferences even better than she might herself.
“It felt like he truly understood me,” Taylor explained. “I hadn’t even figured out what I wanted myself, but he just *knew*-and honestly, that’s pretty impressive.”
This is the diamond she’d always dreamed of, much like she expresses in her song “Wood” from her latest album. She sings, “Girls, I don’t need to catch the bouquet / to know a hard rock is on the way.”
For more on the many allusions scattered throughout The Life of a Showgirl, read on.
The first song on Taylor Swift‘s album, The Life of a Showgirl, alludes to Ophelia, a character in William Shakespeare‘s play Hamlet, and her unfortunate story.
The song suggests Taylor could have been overwhelmed by sadness if her real love hadn’t rescued her. It implies she was deeply affected and needed someone to lift her spirits.
“I heard you calling / On the megaphone,” Taylor sings. “You wanna see me all alone.”
The song’s words seem to reference Travis Kelce playfully teasing Taylor on his New Heights podcast. He mentioned she didn’t meet up with him after her Eras Tour concerts, and that’s actually how their relationship started.
“I swore loyalty to me, myself and I,” the lyrics continue. “Right before you lit my sky up.”
Prior to meeting Travis, Taylor had recently ended things with Matty Healy. She had playfully referred to herself as one of the “independent girlies” back in July 2023.
But after Travis went to her concert in Kansas City that same month, sparks began to fly.
Even Taylor’s fiancé is participating in her tradition of hiding clues, having playfully hinted at lyrics from “The Fate of Ophelia” on Instagram back in July. He captioned photos of them together with, “Had some adventures this offseason,” and added, “Kept it [100].”
So, how does this relate to Taylor’s song? The lyrics say, “You dug me out of my grave and saved my heart from the fate of Ophelia / Keep it one hundred.”
In the album’s second song, Taylor pays tribute to the iconic performer Elizabeth Taylor, mentioning places the actress loved, including the Plaza Athénée in Paris and Musso & Frank’s in Los Angeles.
In the song’s words, Taylor also finds similarities between herself and the Cleopatra actress. Just like Taylor experiences now, Elizabeth frequently appeared in the news for everything – from her romantic relationships to her stunning clothes.
But, as Taylor notes in her song, “Oftentimes it doesn’t feel so glamorous to be me.”
In the cheerful song “Opalite,” which Travis had previously shared was his favorite from the Showgirl album, Taylor Swift reflects on their relationship.
Having experienced a lot of heartbreak in past relationships, Taylor now seems to have found peace and tranquility with Travis, like a calm, shimmering opal sky.
As a music insider, I can tell you that while Taylor Swift, Max Martin, and Shellback are officially listed as the writers of Showgirl, there’s a really lovely tribute happening here. The iconic George Michael is receiving a writing credit on the song posthumously! It’s because “Showgirl” cleverly incorporates a piece of his 1987 hit, also called “Father Figure.” It’s a beautiful way to honor his legacy and give credit where it’s due.
Taylor Swift’s team also showed their support. On October 2nd, they posted on Instagram, saying, “Thank you @taylorswift for including George in such a special moment.”
We’re now at track five on Showgirl, and it’s well-known that Taylor typically places her saddest songs around this point on an album.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been really touched by Taylor’s song, “Eldest Daughter.” It beautifully captures what it’s like to go through all of life’s ups and downs, but always prioritizing the people you cherish. It’s especially poignant knowing she’s singing about her family – she, Andrea Swift and Scott Swift, were a family before welcoming Austin Swift into the world, and that bond clearly still resonates in her work.
As the lyrics state, “Cause I’m not someone who acts badly / And this isn’t ruthless / And I promise I’ll always be there for you,” followed by, “I’ll never abandon you / There are so many disloyal people / Those who seem nice but aren’t to be trusted / But I’ll always keep my promise.”
The sixth track on Showgirl recounts a story of wishing things had been different in a relationship that never really began. The lyrics evoke a feeling of longing, with lines like “Have fun, it’s prom / Wilted corsage dangles from my wrist / Over his shoulder I catch a glimpse / And see…You looking at me / And it was not an invitation / But as the 50 Cent song played / Should’ve kissed you anyway.”
Taylor Swift mentions her close friend Abigail Anderson in these poignant lines about dealing with loss: “When I left school, I lost track of you / Abigail called me with the bad news Goodbye, and we’ll never know why.”
“Actually Romantic” isn’t really a romance story, not exactly. Instead, it’s a song written as a reaction to someone-unnamed in the lyrics-who has apparently talked about Taylor quite a bit.
Taylor sings, “I high-fived my ex, and then you told me you were happy he cut off contact with me.” She continues, “You wrote a song about how it bothers you to even look at me / Some people might take issue with that / But honestly, it’s kind of sweet.”
Although Taylor usually keeps the inspiration behind her songs private, a lot of fans online think this one was about Charli XCX. Charli opened for Taylor during the Reputation Tour and is also friends with Taylor’s former boyfriend, Matty, and his partner, Gabbriette Bechtel.
When Charli-whose husband is George Daniel, a member of the band The 1975-released her album brat in June 2024, some people thought her song “Sympathy is a Knife” was a diss track aimed at Taylor. But two months later, Taylor appeared to end the speculation by publicly complimenting Charli’s work.
Taylor shared with New York magazine on August 26th that she’s been impressed with Charli’s musical talent ever since hearing ‘Stay Away’ back in 2011. She described Charli’s songwriting as both dreamlike and original, noting that she consistently takes songs in unexpected directions. Taylor expressed her admiration for this dedication and consistent quality, saying she’s happy to see such hard work rewarded.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for comment on the speculation and has not heard back.
On the very top of Taylor’s wish list? A forever with Travis. That includes starting a family.
“I just want you,” she sings. “Have a couple kids / Got the whole block looking like you.”
Taylor says that hoping for love by wishing on a star “never did me any good.” However, with Travis, she feels so secure that she doesn’t even feel the need to knock on wood for good luck.
Girls, I don’t need to catch the bouquet,” she sings in the lyrics, “to know difficult times are coming.
I knew it all along! She totally predicted it, and it finally happened – Taylor and Travis announced they were getting engaged in August 2025. It’s so amazing to see their relationship blossom after two years of dating. I’m genuinely thrilled for them both, and can’t wait to see what the future holds. You can find more details about their relationship here.
The song also references New Heights, which Taylor says is where their relationship began.
On track 10, Taylor is mentoring someone who has faced public backlash – a situation she understands all too well, having gone through it herself.
“Join me,” she said. “People will flee when they see us.” She continued, “It’s a good thing my friends cancelled – I prefer them mysterious and a little bit rebellious, even if it causes drama.”
“Honey” truly lives up to its name! On the 11th song of the album, Taylor shares how Travis has completely changed the meaning of certain words for her. Previously, terms like “honey” and “sweetheart” might have brought up unpleasant memories, but now, she associates them with Travis.
Taylor softly sings, “Let’s leave those sad feelings behind / When you call me ‘honey.'” She continues with, “Think of warm summer drinks and rosy sunsets / You’re welcome to call me ‘honey’ if you’d like / Because I’m the person you desire.”
In fact, Travis did call Taylor “sweetie” during her debut appearance on New Heights in August.
For her final act, Taylor teamed up with friend Sabrina Carpenter.
The song connects with “Elizabeth Taylor,” offering a look at the life of a showgirl from behind the scenes. Though it appears dazzling, everything comes at a cost, and an experienced performer needs to make that clear to a rising star.
The song’s words create a vivid image: “She confessed, ‘I would give anything, even my soul, to experience a truly wonderful life, one that’s completely my own’ / But that’s not the reality for showgirls / They’re simply discarded and forgotten.”
Finally, having experienced what it’s like to be a showgirl, the performers come together for a closing bow, saying, “That’s our show / We love you so much, goodnight!”
