Kate Hudson’s birthday wish for her daughter Rani is simply fun.
The Almost Famous star talked about her close relationship with her and Danny Fujikawa’s 7-year-old child, sharing a touching message to celebrate her youngest’s birthday.
“My daughter is turning 7 today,” Kate shared on October 2nd, along with an Instagram carousel of videos showing Rani dancing. They were wearing matching outfits! “My sweet, sparkly, sassy, silly, sunshine girl! You bring so much joy to my life. I love you! Happy Birthday.”
In addition to highlighting the special bond between Kate and her daughter, Kate’s tribute to Rani – set to Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” – featured adorable pictures of Rani with her dad. The photos included Rani dancing and showing off her vibrant personality while posing for the camera.
The Running Point actress-who is also a mother to Ryder, 21, with Chris Robinson and Bingham, 13, with Matt Belamy-previously showcased Rani’s personality in July when she posted photos from their family vacation to Spain.
Rani stole the show! Kate shared several photos of her daughter beaming while on a boat trip in the Mediterranean Sea, and also posing playfully in the sand.
The actress shared a heartwarming moment with her daughter, posting the caption “Girl trip” on Instagram on July 12th.
I’ve been following Rani for a while now, and while she’s absolutely hilarious and loves to play up to the camera, what really impresses me is how seriously she takes her role as her mom’s “greatest critic.” She really has a keen eye for detail and isn’t afraid to share her honest opinion, which I think is wonderful! It’s great to see that side of her.
“It’s amazing how much she observes everything I do,” Kate explained during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in March. “And she always has an opinion. For example, while filming Running Point, she would constantly say, ‘Mommy, I don’t understand why you approached the desk that way.’ I would explain that *that* was the funny part, but she’d reply, ‘It just isn’t funny.’”
She added, “And I was like, ‘Oh. Well, maybe it’ll be funny when you never see it.'”
Beyond simply communicating her message, Kate mentioned that Rani also focuses on the overall feeling and energy, noting she’s, “very much a Libra.”
“Everything looks really beautiful,” Kate explained. “Even with buildings, she’ll go inside and immediately notice, ‘The lighting in here is incredible.’ And you just think, ‘Wow, that’s a really refined observation.’
And young Rani’s strong personality isn’t just winning her fans-it’s also quite a handful! Kate even shared that Danny, her fiancé since 2021, knows how to handle their spirited little girl.
“Danny kind of wants to live in the woods,” she said with a laugh. “He keeps saying, ‘We’re moving to the woods. We’re going to take everything away from her.’”
