Eric Dane Shares Hospitalization Amid ALS Battle

Eric Dane was unable to attend a major television event because he was dealing with health issues related to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The actor explained why he couldn’t attend September’s Emmys 2025. He was originally supposed to present an award with Grey’s Anatomy costar Jesse Williams, but he had to go to the hospital for treatment instead.

“ALS is a really difficult disease,” he explained in an interview with The Washington Post, published on October 2nd, when discussing the neurodegenerative disorder-more commonly called Lou Gehrig’s disease. He continued, “That’s why I was in the hospital during the Emmys-I needed stitches in my head.”

Because of that, Eric shared, “I missed an opportunity I was really looking forward to.”

Seeing Jesse and reconnecting with old classmates would have been wonderful, and I felt it would have been a special moment to present my work to my colleagues,” the 52-year-old explained. “I was really upset about the situation, but ultimately, there was nothing I could do.”

Even so, Jesse was thinking about Eric during the awards ceremony. He presented the award for Outstanding Directing of a Drama Series to Slow HorsesAdam Randall as the sole winner.

“It was a truly wonderful experience,” Jesse shared with Live From TopMob: 2025 Emmys when discussing he and Eric’s time on Grey’s Anatomy. “We built a strong fanbase, and I really enjoyed collaborating with him.”

The 44-year-old added, “On and off screen, that’s my brother.”

Eric also finds support from his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their daughters, Billie, who is 15, and Georgia, 13, when things get difficult.

I speak with Rebecca,” he shared with Good Morning America‘s Diane Sawyer in June. “We talk daily. We’ve grown closer as friends and as parents, and she’s truly my greatest advocate and strongest source of support – I rely on her a lot.

Even though Eric’s struggle with ALS can be very difficult, he has no intention of retiring. He told TopMob News earlier this year, “I’m going to ride this till the wheels fall off.” He’s determined to keep working as long as he possibly can, despite the challenges.

I’m generally a really positive person,” Countdown‘s star shared with me, “and honestly, that’s what I focus on at the end of the day – just keeping my spirits up. That’s all that really matters.

The former star of Total Bellas shared that one of her breast implants moved out of place after being hit in the chest by Piper Niven, another WWE wrestler, during a match in July 2025.

“It’s okay,” she reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, back then. “We’ll get it fixed eventually. I explained to the doctor, ‘Now that I’m newly divorced, as soon as I retire, I’ll come back to you and we’ll make these horses look fantastic, because they’re going to be competing again soon, and they can’t look like this.’”

The 12 Years a Slave actress received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids-harmless growths that form on or near the uterus-in 2014. This was the same year she won an Oscar for her role in the film.

She didn’t share her diagnosis publicly until 2025, when she wrote on Instagram that she had been “suffering in silence” for over ten years. It had been a long and private struggle.

She explained that when girls enter puberty, they’re often told that periods are supposed to be painful, and that this pain is just an unavoidable part of being female. She added, “We often deal with this issue on our own, even though it affects so many of us.”

In July 2025, the Daisy Jones & The Six star revealed she needed to be hospitalized for a hernia-which is a weak spot in the abdominal or groin muscles-and explained it was caused by wearing very tight pants.

‘Suki, you haven’t been posting on X (which used to be Twitter) lately,’ she wrote. ‘Did it ever occur to you that I wore pants so incredibly tight six months ago that I actually got a hernia, and I’ve been afraid to mention it?’

The Beverly Hills, 90210 actor shared in April 2025 that he was getting better after having surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.

“Last week, I began experiencing stomach pain,” Brian shared in an Instagram video. “I went to the emergency room and discovered I had a perforated appendix-it hadn’t quite ruptured, but it was very close.”

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

The Racing Louisville midfielder went down shortly after the start of her team’s game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Oh my gosh, I was watching the game and it was terrifying! I saw her, one of the USWNT players, slowly lower herself to the field, and another teammate was right there with her. According to Reuters, the ref immediately signaled for the trainers to come over. Then, just seconds later, she completely collapsed. I was so worried!

According to a post on X later that night, the National Women’s Soccer League stated that Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. The league also reported that she is currently stable and alert.

Adam Devine revealed that he continues to experience effects from injuries he suffered as a child. When he was 11 years old, he was hit by a cement truck, and the consequences of that accident are still felt today.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine explained on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I experience muscle spasms throughout my body. Recently-within the past year-[doctors] believed I was facing a life-threatening condition-they told me I was dying.”

He observed that pain is often temporary, explaining, “My body has some quirks and isn’t quite perfect.”

The Bachelor Nation star revealed he had to go to the hospital while literally crawling on his hands and knees because of terrible back pain. The pain got much worse during a road trip he took with a friend.

“Currently, my knees are still tingling all the way to my toes, which is really strange,” he shared on a March 2025 episode of his Trading Secrets podcast. “To give you some context, I don’t want to sound arrogant, but just two or three weeks ago, maybe a month ago, I was squatting around 295 pounds. Now, I can’t even do a squat with weight on my foot. I can’t do a single-leg squat; I just fall over. It feels like I’ve had a stroke or something.”

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I was absolutely devastated to learn that Gina Kirschenheiter‘s ex-husband, Matt, had a heart attack back in March 2025. I’m such a huge fan of Real Housewives of Orange County, and I was so worried when I heard! Thankfully, he pulled through, and I’m just so relieved he survived the ordeal!

The 30 Rock actor experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game in March 2025, and was subsequently taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

But the comedian later posted an update on social media, explaining that he had actually suffered from food poisoning and was recovering well.

The former Even Stevens star revealed in February 2025 that she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. She was on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting at the time.

She explained on Instagram that another group was with them and carelessly fired a weapon in the wrong direction, hitting her in the face. @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her condition, and took her to the hospital. She was struck five times, and one of the shots came within an inch of her right eye.

The Kim Possible actor explained, “Sadly, a small piece became stuck behind my eye, and doctors believe it’s too dangerous to try to remove it with surgery right now. They will keep checking on my condition – thankfully, my vision is currently normal.”

The actress expressed her relief at surviving and being alive. “I have so much love for my daughters, my husband, my family, and my friends,” she shared. “Seeing my life pass before me really made me realize something: cherish the people you’re with and hug them whenever you get the chance, because things can change so quickly.”

While the internet isn’t always a kind place, Amy Schumer is happy that, in this case, it helped her get answers.

“The internet really came for me after doing a bunch of press, and I was like, ‘OK everybody, relax,'” Amy recalled of her “puffier” face on a January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But then doctors were chiming in in the comments and they were like, ‘No no, we think something’s really up. Your face looks so crazy that we think something’s up. And I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m getting trolled by doctors?’”

After these doctors said they thought she had Cushing syndrome and that it may be caused by spiking coritsol levels or steroid injections, the Life & Beth creator thought, “Wait, I have been getting steroid injections in my scars.”

“I had a breast reduction, a C-section, whatever, and so I was getting these steroid injections,” Amy said. “So it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard.”

Toda, Amy is just relieved she’s OK. As she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Finding out I have the kind of Cushing that will just work itself out and I’m healthy was the greatest news imaginable.”

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player suffered a cut from another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, his father, Tom Fitzgerald, who is the general manager of the New Jersey Devils, shared with ESPN, “We’re very lucky. I don’t wish that on any parent.”

As a wellness advocate, I’ve always believed in sharing personal experiences to help others, and I want to talk about something really scary that happened to me. In March 2022, I was having breakfast with my husband, Justin Bieber, when I suddenly started experiencing some frightening symptoms.

He noticed something was off and asked if I was okay, but I honestly couldn’t respond. He asked again, and when I tried to speak, the words just wouldn’t come out. The right side of my face started to droop, and I couldn’t form a complete sentence.

Thankfully, the drooping stopped and my speech eventually returned, but I knew I needed to get checked out immediately, so I went to the hospital.

After running some scans, doctors discovered I had a small blood clot in my brain, which they identified as a TIA – or Transient Ischemic Attack.

Later, I learned at the University of California, Los Angeles, that I have a hole in my heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO).

Essentially, the blood clot traveled to my heart, then “escaped” through that hole and made its way to my brain, causing the TIA.

I’m so grateful to share that I had a successful PFO closure procedure, and I’m now feeling fantastic. As Hailey Bieber, I want people to be aware of these things and prioritize their health.

It was a tough year for both Hailey and Justin, as Justin faced a health battle of his own around the same time.

Back in June 2022, he bravely shared with everyone that he’d been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. It was so frightening to hear! This condition caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face, and sadly, he had to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video he posted on Instagram, he explained it so clearly: “It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.” He showed us how his eye wouldn’t blink, he couldn’t smile on one side, and even his nostril wouldn’t move. “So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

He even shared that it had become “progressively harder to eat,” which was heartbreaking to hear. Thankfully, after a while, the paralysis did go away.

I remember watching Good Morning America in June 2022, and Hailey said, “He’s doing really well.” She later added, “He’s feeling a lot better. Obviously, it was just a very scary and random situation to happen, but he’s going to be totally OK and I’m just grateful that he’s fine.” As a fan, I was so relieved to hear that he was on the mend!

Although Jamie Foxx kept the details of his hospitalization in April 2023 to himself at first, he eventually shared what happened.

He explained that one day while in Atlanta, “I had a really bad headache, so I asked a friend for an aspirin,” he said in his 2024 Netflix special What Had Happened Was… “Before I could take it, I passed out. I don’t remember the next 20 days.”

Jamie explained he first went to a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. But his sister, Deidra Dixon, worried about him and drove him to the hospital, where they discovered he had a brain bleed which caused a stroke.

Twenty days after surgery, the Django Unchainedstar woke up on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“I’m just grateful for every prayer,” he said, “because I truly needed them all.”

As a lifestyle expert, I was shocked to hear the reality star share her experience! She told us she actually felt like she “died” while running a mile during the very first challenge of the NBC competition series. It was a really intense moment, and she described it as if she briefly lost consciousness during the competition. It’s definitely a story she won’t soon forget!

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve heard many personal stories, and this one is particularly striking. On Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser, she shared a truly moving experience. She admitted, “I don’t remember a lot,” but recounted hearing a helicopter and then feeling like she was simply floating. She vividly described seeing her grandfather and then experiencing darkness, followed by light. It was in that moment, she realized, “I knew, I knew I died that day.” It’s a powerful testament to the human experience and how we process trauma.

“My organs were basically failing,” she went on to say. “I didn’t know I had rhabdomyolysis. And rhabdomyolysis is what your body does when it’s about to shut down.”

Emilia Clarke is known for filming intense battle scenes in Game of Thrones, but in 2019 she revealed a personal battle in an essay for The New Yorker titled “A Battle for My Life.”

While at the gym in 2019, she experienced a severe headache. As she described it, “I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill.” The pain-sharp, stabbing, and constricting-quickly worsened, and she realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.

She was rushed to the hospital for a brain scan.

“The diagnosis was quick and frightening: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain,” the Emmy nominee explained. “I had an aneurysm, a burst blood vessel.”

Emilia underwent immediate surgery to repair the aneurysm, describing the pain as “unbearable.” During her recovery, she experienced aphasia and found herself “muttering nonsense.”

A week later, “the aphasia cleared up,” Emilia shared, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month.

However, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the growth had “doubled in size,” requiring a second surgery.

“When I woke up, I was screaming in pain,” she wrote. “The surgery hadn’t worked. I had a major bleed, and the doctors told me my chances of survival were very low unless they operated again. This time, they needed to access my brain by opening my skull.”

Fortunately, Emilia shared, she is now “at a hundred per cent.”

Snoop Dogg‘s daughter, Cori Broadus, feels thankful for the support of her family.

This comes after she experienced a serious stroke in January 2024, and her family quickly came to her side.

“I texted them that I’d had a stroke and sent a picture,” she explained to  TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024. “Everyone immediately came to my rescue.”

Due to other health issues, Cori ended up needing to stay in the hospital for a longer period than she originally thought.

“I could have been discharged after the stroke, but my lupus wasn’t stable,” the Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story star shared. “My kidneys were also starting to fail. There was a lot happening at once.”

Currently, Cori is recovering well.

“I’m doing great,” she said. “I just needed to regain some motor skills, but other than that, I’m doing fine.”

Shailene Woodley experienced significant health challenges during her early 20s.

“I got to the point where I was losing my hearing. I couldn’t walk for more than five minutes without needing to rest for hours and sleep. Everything I ate caused me stomach pain,” the actress explained on a September 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast. “It was a combination of problems, diagnoses, and doctors giving me conflicting information.”

Shailene-who has chosen to keep her specific condition private-began searching for answers.

“I come from a background that values holistic health and I study herbalism,” she added. “So I really wanted to work with both traditional doctors, [and] also explore alternative healers.” I was just trying to find some comfort and peace within myself.”

It was a lengthy process-lasting for 10 years.

“Over that decade, a lot of other issues arose from feeling so much physical discomfort,” the Big Little Lies star noted, “like becoming afraid of food because everything hurt my stomach. That led to a lot of mental struggles with body image, confusion about who I was, and feeling safe in my own body, and figuring out what that even meant.”

After addressing both her physical and mental well-being, Shailene is now feeling much better.

“It was a journey that eventually resolved itself physically, and I am very healthy,” she shared. “I’m so happy to be able to say that.
