Bad Bunny isn’t letting his critics get the best of him.
The singer of “Baile Inolvidable” addressed the backlash he received for being scheduled to perform at the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. He did so while hosting the premiere of Saturday Night Live on October 4th during season 51.
“I’m feeling great,” he shared at the beginning of his speech, “and it seems like everyone else is pleased too-even Fox News.”
The comedy show then played a series of news clips about the 31-year-old’s Super Bowl halftime performance. These clips were altered to include the statement, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president.”
Bad Bunny continued by saying that his fans worldwide were excited about the February 8th performance. He then added, in Spanish, “Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors.” He explained that this wasn’t just a personal achievement, but a victory for the entire community, stating, “Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”
“If you didn’t understand what I just said,” he concluded, “You have four months to learn.”
Regarding what fans can anticipate from the musician (whose birth name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) during his Super Bowl halftime performance, he’s already assured his audience that they’ll be pleased with the show.
Honestly, everything I do is intentional, you know? And wherever I am, I’m always repping – always putting my country and my music first. I was telling Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Halftime Headliner Special on Sept. 29 that I’m still working out exactly what I’m going to do during the show, but trust me, it’s going to be amazing!
After all, Bad Bunny feels his best work is still to come.
He went on to say, “I consistently give my all and put a lot of heart into my work.” He added, “I’m still developing as a player-I’m a rookie-and I’m eager to prove myself and achieve great things.”
