The DC Universe is still expanding and currently centers around a few key areas. Both *Creature Commandos* and *Peacemaker* prominently feature Rick Flag Sr., and share several connections. The upcoming *Clayface* movie could tie into these projects too, as the character will first appear in *Creature Commandos* and clash with Flag Sr. The rest of the focus is on Superman and related characters, with a *Supergirl* movie planned for 2026 and a team-up between Superman and Lex Luthor expected in *Man of Tomorrow* the following year.
The DC Universe is currently building its foundation with smaller, more focused stories, so big team-ups like Batman and Superman working together feel distant. However, the DCU may not even *need* a ‘World’s Finest’ pairing, as they’ve just introduced a new duo that might be even more compelling.
Peacemaker Finally Lets Its Best Characters Loose
The second season of *Peacemaker* has largely followed Christopher Smith’s personal struggles. Things have been difficult for him, especially after being excluded from the Justice Gang and turned down by Emilia Harcourt. He desperately wants to be seen as a hero, and he thinks he can achieve that by eliminating his counterpart from another Earth and taking his place. Chris decides to start a new life on this alternate Earth, but his friends, the 11th Street Kids, refuse to let him go without a fight and pursue him.
While Harcourt, Leota, and John search for Chris, Adrian Chase has his own agenda: finding his alternate self. The two quickly bond over their shared dislike of Nazis. When they learn Leota is in danger, both Adrians rush to Blue Dragon’s home, ready for a fight. They start by confronting the leader of the Top Trio—unaware he’s actually a good person—and then turn their attention to the crooked police officers threatening their friends. Though their tactics are questionable, the Vigilantes are effective. It’s unfortunate they might only have one opportunity to fight as a team.
Vigilante May Never See His Doppleganger Again
In the seventh episode of *Peacemaker* Season 2, the 11th Street Kids find themselves in a desperate escape as the police surround the mansion. They struggle to persuade Chris to leave, as he fears repeating the pain of abandoning family. Things get even more complicated when Keith, determined to avenge his brother, finds himself at the mercy of the attackers. Just as Harcourt is about to finish the mission, another police assault forces her to retreat through a portal, leaving the battle to Vigilante from Earth-2. While Vigilante is more than capable of handling the immediate threat, he soon discovers they aren’t the only ones after him.
Keith managed to survive the attack on his house, and considering how he acted towards everyone at the episode’s end, it seems he didn’t let anyone live. He’ll likely now go after the other Vigilante to find out everything he knows. Without that ally, Adrian from Earth-2 probably won’t survive the rest of the season. This might actually be a good thing, as these two characters were so effective together that it limited opportunities for other relationships to develop, particularly the budding connection between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel.
Peacemaker Season 2 is streaming on HBO Max.
