Like many other online role-playing games, Blue Protocol has a bit of a slow start. There’s a lot to learn – different character classes, various currencies, and resources to gather – which can feel overwhelming at first.

Don’t worry! This guide will cover the essential basics to help you get started with the game.

Beginner’s Guide | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

Class System Basics

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance uses a classic class system with three main roles: damage dealers (DPS), tanks, and support. A well-rounded team will typically include one of each to be most effective.

There are four damage-dealing classes to choose from: Marksman, Wind Knight, Stormblade, and Frost Mage. While each class approaches dealing damage differently, their main purpose is the same: to inflict a lot of damage on enemies.

When it comes to Tanks, you can choose between the Shield Knight and the Heavy Guardian. The Shield Knight excels at protecting itself and grabbing enemies’ attention, while the Heavy Guardian is a tough, slower fighter who pulls opponents in and depends on strong defenses.

When it comes to support characters, the Verdant Oracle is a reliable, dedicated healer. Alternatively, the Soul Musician (also known as the Beat Performer) offers less direct healing but can boost your team’s abilities with helpful buffs!

Focus on the Story and Dungeons

As a beginner, your two main focuses at the start should be the game’s main story and dungeons.

The primary way to gain experience and level up quickly is by focusing on the main storyline. It’s much more effective than doing other things in the game!

Keep in mind that character progression in this game is limited by time. You won’t be able to reach the highest level (60) for the first 12 days after the game launches. Fortunately, experience points earned are boosted, so leveling up quickly after that initial period should be easy.

Dungeons, called Chaotic Realms, are the best way to get new equipment. Don’t skip them! While you don’t need great gear at the beginning of the game, running dungeons regularly will make things much easier as you progress.

Dungeons can be tough, but a great way to learn is by playing on Normal mode with AI companions. We recommend starting there to get comfortable!

Don’t Ignore the In-Game Guide

Blue Protocol’s Star Resonance includes a useful in-game guide that’s easy to miss. You can find it at the bottom of the Menu, as pictured above.

As a player, I found this guide super helpful because it doesn’t just walk you through the very beginning of the game. It actually dives deeper and explains things like special mechanics you only find in dungeons – stuff that really makes a difference when you’re playing!

While it doesn’t have all the details you can find in online guides, it’s still a good resource to check occasionally. Plus, it’s built right into the game, so make sure you don’t overlook it!

Be Mindful When Upgrading Skills

Don’t forget you can improve your Class Skills! You can increase both how powerful they are (their Level) and their overall quality (their Tier).

Improving a skill doesn’t cost much. It uses Bound Luno, a currency that’s easy to come by. You can upgrade all of your class skills to level 30.

Moving up Tiers requires careful planning. Each time you upgrade your Tier, you’ll need to use Skill Advance Books that are specific to your character’s Class.

Skill Advance Books can be hard to come by, particularly if you’re playing for free. Because of this, it’s a good idea to avoid upgrading your Class Skills until you’re certain it’s the right move!

Understanding Currencies and What to Get

Like many games of this kind, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance uses several different currencies that new players will need to get familiar with.

There are two key currencies: Luno and Rose Orbs. Both come in two versions: Bound and Unbound. Unbound currencies are harder to find and have a limited supply. You can identify Bound currencies by the chain icon displayed on them.

Okay, so Bound Luno is the main currency you’ll be using in the game. Honestly, it’s super easy to get – just by playing! I’m talking about finishing quests, beating up monsters, opening chests… basically, anything you do will probably give you some. It’s the bread and butter of the whole economy, really!

The main use for Luno is to upgrade your Class Skills and purchase materials from NPCs’ shops.

You can primarily earn Unbound Luno by selling items to other players in the Trading Center. You can then use this Luno to buy items either in the Trading Center or the Mystery Shop.

Rose Orbs are the game’s premium currency. You’ll find Bound Rose Orbs more often, as they’re given away as rewards. Unbound Rose Orbs, however, can only be purchased with real money.

The only real difference between the two types of Rose Orbs is what they can be spent on. Unbound Rose Orbs let you buy special cosmetic items and premium Wishes, which are used to get random items in the game.

When deciding how to spend your in-game currency, we suggest focusing on the limited-time items available in the Mystery Store. These change every day and offer good value if you’re looking for resources.

Skill Advance Books are the most crucial items to collect! As we discussed earlier, they’re quite rare and essential for improving your Class Skills. Don’t miss out on finding these!

Exploring the World

Don’t be afraid to explore the large open world as you play – you’ll discover lots of cool things!

Throughout the game world, you’ll discover hidden chests containing rewards. You’ll also encounter characters who offer side quests, which are useful for gathering materials and gaining experience. It’s all pretty typical for this type of game, but it’s still essential to take advantage of these opportunities.

Just so you know, as you play and gain levels, you’ll unlock some really cool ways to move around the game world! You can find all these movement skills in the Adventurer Level menu – I found it super helpful to check there. Seriously, make sure you activate them and use them, because they make getting around *so* much faster!

I just have to say, if you’re planning a trip, you absolutely *need* to check out the Ancient City of Vill! It’s located in the southern Asteria Plains, and honestly, it’s a must-see. I’m recommending it as soon as possible because you won’t want to miss it!

You’ll discover a large, white and blue flower that will react with you when you approach it. Interacting with the flower unlocks new movement abilities for the surrounding area, most notably the ‘Float’ skill, which lets you glide through the air.

Basically, learn how to move around first, then go explore! There are tons of cool things hidden everywhere, so don’t skip out on discovering them.

Use the Monster Hunt Feature

Finally, a quick tip for new players: there’s a useful Monster Hunt feature on your map, located near the bottom, as you can see in the image above.

This useful tool helps you locate enemies within the game. It also tells you when and where Bosses will appear, and what rewards they offer!

It’s always a good idea to fight Bosses whenever they’re available. They offer valuable rewards, including Bound Rose Orbs and other useful items.

When you defeat one of these Bosses, they’ll drop a special chest filled with good equipment. You’ll need a Boss Loot Key to open it.

You receive two Boss Loot Keys each day, and you can store up to six. However, if your inventory is already full, there’s not much point in saving them! So, defeat bosses to earn extra loot and other rewards whenever you can.
