Looking to understand how to improve your equipment in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance? You’re in the right spot!
This game has a lot of depth beyond just finding the strongest equipment, though that’s definitely important. You’ll also need to learn where to find gear, how to improve its quality, and how to customize it with things like reforging and refining.
I’m so excited to share everything you need to know in this guide! Let’s dive in and help you get the absolute best out of your equipment, fellow adventurer!
Complete Gear Progression Guide | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance
How to Get Gear
In Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, you can obtain equipment from a variety of activities. Here’s a look at the primary ways to get new gear:
- Chaotic Realm (Regular Dungeons)
- Dragon Shackles Raid
- Event Activities
- Gear Exchange
- Pioneer Rewards
- Unstable Space (Daily Dungeon)
- World Bosses
As the server progresses, you’ll generally find better equipment from most activities. However, the Gear Exchange, Chaotic Realm, and Dragon Shackles Raid are the exceptions – they don’t follow this pattern.
Of all the options, the dungeons in the Chaotic Realm are definitely the most rewarding. You’ll get the best gear for the time you put in. To access the Chaotic Realms, head to the Unit X Research Facility in Asterleeds, as shown in the image.
If you’re having trouble finding a group, the Party Finder is a lifesaver! I usually just hit ‘I’ on my keyboard and it shows me all the other players who are looking for teammates to tackle these Chaotic Realm dungeons. It’s a super easy way to jump in and play with others.
Plus, the difficulty level you choose for the Chaotic Realm directly impacts the quality of the items you’ll find. Higher difficulties mean better loot, specifically:
- Epic Level 40 Gear – Normal and Hard
- Legendary Level 40 Gear – Hard
- Epic and Legendary Level 60 Gear – Master 1 to Master 5
- Epic and Legendary Level 80 Gear – Master 6 to Master 10+
Finally, keep in mind that you won’t have access to all Chaotic Realms and difficulty levels right away. They become available over time as the server gets older. Just be patient, and you’ll eventually be able to get better equipment!
Getting good equipment is actually quite straightforward. Basically, you should focus on playing the most difficult Chaotic Realm you’re able to complete. That’s all there is to it!
Where to Get Specific Gear
You now have a basic understanding of where to find equipment. However, not every item drops from every location! Certain types of gear are only found in specific places. Here’s a handy chart listing all the gear types and the best places to farm them:
Gear Type | Best Sources |
Armors and Rings | Tempest Ogre (Boss) Towering Ruin (Chaotic Realm) |
Boots and Charms | Lizardman King (Boss) Kanamia Trial (Chaotic Realm) |
Bracelets | Goblin King (Boss) Dragon Claw Valley (Chaotic Realm) |
Gauntlets and Earrings | Celestial Flier (Boss) Goblin Nest (Chaotic Realm) |
Helmets and Necklaces | Storm Goblin King (Boss) Tina’s Mindrealm (Chaotic Realm) |
Weapons | Muku King (Boss) Dark Mist Fortress (Chaotic Realm) |
Just so you know, you don’t need Boss Loot Keys if you’re only farming bosses for gear. Those keys are just for getting extra rewards, not the gear itself!
There’s a limit of 50 kills per day for each boss. Once you’ve defeated a boss 50 times before the daily reset, it will no longer drop any items. Remember this when you’re trying to farm specific bosses.
Gear Attribute Limitations
A key thing to remember about gear in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is that certain attributes can’t be combined on the same item. This is important to consider as you improve your equipment.
Basically, items like helmets that are primarily defined by Strength can’t also have Versatility as a secondary trait.
This chart details which Advanced Attributes are unavailable based on the type of equipment and its Basic Attributes.
Basic Attribute On Gear
Strength | Intellect | Agility
Gear Type | Impossible Advanced Attribute
Helmet | Versatility | Crit | Haste |
Armor | Luck | Crit | Mastery |
Gauntlets | Haste | Versatility | Crit |
Boots | Mastery | Luck | Crit |
Earrings | Mastery | Versatility | Haste |
Necklace | Haste | Luck | Mastery |
Ring | Luck | Mastery | Versatility |
Bracelet (L) | Crit | Haste | Versatility |
Bracelet (R) | Crit | Mastery | Luck |
Charm | Versatility | Haste | Luck |
It’s important to remember that gear earned from the Dragonshackles Raid isn’t affected by these limitations. Raid rewards will always have the highest possible Basic Attribute and two top-tier Advanced Attributes for your class and specialization, even if that wouldn’t normally be possible with other gear.
When checking item details, pay attention to the thumbs-up icon next to attributes. It means those attributes are particularly good for your current character build.
Reforging Gear
A key element of improving your equipment in this game is Reforging. You can Reforge your gear by speaking with Maxim, who is located at the Artisan Guild in Asterleeds, as demonstrated in the image.
You can use items like Reforge Stones to make your equipment better. Each time you improve a piece of gear, its Perfection level will go up. Currently, the maximum Perfection level is 100.
As you improve your Perfection level, the bonus stats on your gear will gradually increase. You can find these stats displayed on the right side of your screen, as shown in the screenshot.
You’ll also get to reroll your third Advanced Attribute. You can find it on the right side of the screen, as shown in the image above.
When using the Reforge system, you have two main objectives. First, increase Perfection to 100% to get the best possible stats from your gear. Second, keep rerolling the third attribute until you get one that’s ideal for your character’s class and specialization.
The process might seem a little unpredictable, but you won’t actually fail. It will just take a large number of Reforge Stones! Here’s where you can find them:
- Chaotic Realm
- Gear Exchange
- Honor Coin Store
- Mystery Store
- Trading Center
- Unstable Space
Feel free to use Reforge Stones! You can also ask Maxim to take apart any equipment you don’t need, and he’ll give you a good number of stones back.
Gear Slot Refinement
Finally, don’t forget to use gear slot Refinement. You can access this feature by speaking with Maxim at the Artisan Guild in Asterleeds. It becomes available when you reach Adventurer Level 28 and after 3 days of server uptime.
You can improve your equipment using Starforge Crystals, Unbound Luno, and various metals. These materials are primarily obtained from the following sources:
- Elite Boss Chests
- Honor Coin Store
- Mystery Store
- Smelting Life Skill
- Trading Center
- Unstable Space
- World Boss Chests
I just learned something really cool! When you’re trying to refine your gear, there’s actually a chance of it succeeding, and it’s shown right above the refine button. It’s great to know what your odds are before you try!
As a player, I’ve learned that when you first start trying to upgrade your gear, you have a 100% chance of success! But the thing is, that chance slowly decreases the more you upgrade it. And if you *fail* an upgrade, you lose the materials you used, but you don’t get any closer to leveling up your gear. So basically, the further along you get, the more nerve-wracking it becomes because the risk of losing everything really ramps up!
You can improve your success rate by adding extra Blessing Materials. These materials boost your chances, and can even guarantee success in certain situations. We strongly suggest using them to avoid wasting resources.
As we discussed earlier, refining improves your character’s base stats, not the gear you’re wearing. These upgrades are permanent and will remain even if you switch to different equipment, so it’s always a good idea to refine items when you can!
