Devil Jam Puts a Heavy Metal Riff on Vampire Survivors for PS5

Vampire Survivors has become so popular that other game developers are now starting to make similar games.

Not all of these are worth reporting on, but we do think Devil Jam has some “juice”, so to speak.

This game clearly takes inspiration from the popular auto-battler genre, but it sets itself apart with a strong heavy metal theme.

The trailer shows you can play as a guitar-shredding rocker who can even slide across the ground to dodge enemy attacks. Throughout the game, you’ll receive power-ups and boosts inspired by famous figures in the music industry.

Here’s how the title’s described:

Okay, so basically, you’re fighting tons of demons, leveling up your character with new skills and abilities, and finding awesome gear. There’s a ton of different item combinations, so you can really build your character how *you* want. The goal? To become a metal legend and totally crush Hell in this super addictive roguelite game!

We don’t have a release date for the PlayStation 5 version yet, but the PC version will be available on November 3rd.

The game is being developed by Rogueside, a studio based in Belgium. They previously created the Hidden Through Time series, a game known for its ‘Where’s Waldo’-like puzzles, giving them experience in this type of gameplay.

Devil Jam’s success will likely depend on its music, as the core gameplay is similar to Vampire Survivors, which already does it very well. It’s unclear how this new game plans to offer something different.

Adding licensed music from popular metal artists would significantly enhance the game’s appeal.
