Judge Greg Mathis is happy to avoid divorce court.
Television judge and his wife, Linda Mathis, revealed that staying busy after their August 2024 breakup played a key role in them reconciling after being separated for three weeks.
Linda, 62, said in an upcoming interview on the *Tamron Hall Show* that she and Greg have thoroughly enjoyed their time together, finding each day wonderful, as reported by *People* magazine. The interview is set to air on October 8th.
After 39 years of marriage, Linda filed for divorce in August 2024, deciding she needed to prioritize her own well-being.
I’ve always been there for him,” she said. “But I realized I needed to focus on my own well-being then, and that’s exactly what I was trying to do.”
Greg found the pain of divorcing the mother of his four children—Jade, 40, Camara, 38, Greg Jr., 36, and Amir, 35—as devastating as the loss of his mother.
At 65, Greg described feeling the same intense grief he experienced when his mother passed away. ‘It was that overwhelming feeling,’ he said, ‘and just like I would have done anything to have my mother back, I did everything I could to get my wife back.’
Immediately following the announcement of the Mathis’ separation, Greg refuted claims of an affair and stated that Linda filed for divorce due to a lack of attention in the marriage.
“These are the hardest days of my life,” the TV star shared with TMZ on August 30th. He added, “I might end up as a warning to other men—a lesson to learn. Pay attention to your wife, because this is what can happen.”
He admitted that being away so often could understandably make his wife suspicious. With his frequent work trips and attending events without her, she’d be justified in wondering if he was being unfaithful.
Despite a difficult relationship with his wife, the TV judge decided he would work to resolve their issues and improve things at home.
We’re still living together and remaining friends, but I need to prove that to her. I’m hoping I can do that while we’re still sharing the house, and that she won’t go through with whatever process she’s started.
He added, “I’m getting my wife back.”
