Deadpool is a truly unique comic book character, but the movie version, starring Ryan Reynolds, has become incredibly popular. Reynolds spent almost twenty years working to perfect the role, overcoming many challenges to finally bring the character to life on the big screen. Now, Deadpool is confirmed to have his own movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there’s talk he’ll join the Avengers in a team-up film planned for 2026.
Joining forces with the Avengers might make Deadpool lose sight of his humble beginnings. He wasn’t always a leading man – once, his connections only earned him small roles in cartoons. Here’s a look at every animated appearance of Deadpool, from worst to best.
7) X-Men: The Animated Series

When *X-Men: The Animated Series* was popular in the 1990s, the character Deadpool wasn’t yet well-established. Instead of leaving him out entirely, the show creatively included him twice: once in a vision, and again as one of the forms Morph could take. Because Deadpool didn’t get any lines to speak himself, the version of Wade Wilson from *X-Men: The Animated Series* barely makes this list.
6) Marvel Anime: X-Men

The Marvel Universe is incredibly popular, and many animation studios are eager to create stories using its characters. *Marvel Anime* is a collection of different stories, one of which features the X-Men. In this story, Deadpool tries to help people while battling the powerful and destructive Dark Phoenix. While this is one of the more selfless things Deadpool does, he doesn’t have a major role in *Marvel Anime*.
5) LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition

Deadpool doesn’t exactly fit into the world of LEGO. In *LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition*, he’s not part of the main story about an unexpected hero leading the Avengers to win. He only appears briefly after the credits, complaining about having such a small role. While the scene is funny – She-Hulk even calls him out for trying to steal the spotlight – it’s hard to consider a ten-second appearance particularly noteworthy.
4) Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers

In *Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers*, players collect DISKs to team up with different heroes. Deadpool appears, attempting to sell Iron Fist’s DISK to the highest bidder, and playfully acknowledges he’s in a show a few times. Though not a main character, Deadpool always adds a bit of fun whenever he’s on screen in *Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers*.
3) Marvel Future Avengers

Deadpool has been appearing in anime, including a few episodes of *Marvel Future Avengers*. At first, he’s an enemy of the main team, but he eventually joins forces with them to defeat the villains. This change of heart makes his version in *Marvel Future Avengers* more popular than his counterpart in *Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers*.
2) Ultimate Spider-Man

The animated series *Ultimate Spider-Man* presents a particularly interesting take on Deadpool. Instead of gaining his abilities through the Weapon X program, Deadpool is discovered by Nick Fury as a young man and trained to be a hero. However, he quickly chooses a life as a mercenary. Throughout the show, he frequently partners with Spider-Man, and while he’s kept from swearing, their dynamic is one of the highlights. The biggest complaint about this version of Deadpool is simply that he doesn’t appear in enough episodes.
1) Hulk vs. Wolverine

Early Marvel animated movies have a special appeal, and *Hulk vs.* really stands out. It’s a fun, straightforward story focusing on the Hulk doing what he does best – causing destruction! Deadpool adds a lot of energy to the film as a troublemaker for both the Hulk and Wolverine. Nolan North’s voice work as Deadpool is particularly good, giving the character a unique charm that isn’t always present in other animated versions. Until Deadpool gets his own series, *Hulk vs.* remains the best example of how to do a Marvel animated feature.
