Seth Rogen Says He’s Banned From Presenting at the Emmys

Looking back, Seth Rogen thinks he may have been a superbad presenter.

Though he’s won four Emmys and presented at the ceremony in the past, the actor known for *The Studio* hasn’t been invited to present an award since 2021. He believes his spontaneous, unscripted behavior during a previous appearance is the reason he hasn’t been asked back.

Seth mentioned on the October 6th episode of *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* that he once presented a theory on the show about four years prior, but hasn’t been asked to return since.

The actor lost a chance to present at the 2021 Emmy Awards after making a joke about COVID-19 safety rules. This happened over a year into the pandemic, at the outdoor event held on L.A. Live’s Event Deck, where around 600 people were gathered.

ā€œHonestly, this room is way too crowded,ā€ the speaker, 43, began. ā€œI was told this event would be outside, but it’s not – we’ve been misled. We’re actually inside a completely sealed tent, and I wouldn’t have bothered coming if I’d known. What’s with the roof?ā€

Four years later, Seth still stands by what he said. He told Jimmy Kimmel, “It was true! They weren’t honest with us. The event was advertised as being outdoors, and I was ready to do the silly bit they’d written, but when I got there, it was actually inside a tent. I couldn’t pretend otherwise.”

The actor, known for his role in *Pineapple Express*, explained that the producers were visibly angry with him after the fact.

As for the truth behind Seth’s theory, Jimmy suggested he had gotten to the bottom of it.

As someone who’s been on the Emmys stage a few times myself, I had to look into this, and unfortunately, it’s true – you’re currently ineligible to present at the show.

After chuckling, Seth responded, “I’ve been blacklisted.”

He recognizes why people might be upset. “I really strayed from the plan and made things difficult for them,” he explained. “I understand why they’d feel that way.”

Emmy officials haven’t responded to comments made by Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Rogen, but Ian Stewart, a co-producer of the 2021 show, indicated that Seth Rogen was aware of the outdoor setup beforehand because of rehearsals.

The producer explained to *Variety* in September 2021 that they had spent months ensuring the set was a safe environment. They collaborated closely with health officials and received approval from LA County, developing a detailed safety plan. This included distancing tables, requiring vaccinations, and ensuring everyone in the audience tested negative for the virus. The performer had also rehearsed, so he was fully prepared for the situation.

Ian explained that Seth’s mistake unfortunately undid a lot of effort – three months of hard work and numerous discussions dedicated to getting everything just right.

In June 2024, athlete Jason Kelce responded to a fan’s comment on social media, jokingly asking, ā€œWhat kind of weirdo washes their feet…?ā€ The fan had observed that Kelce appeared to not wash his legs or feet.

The retired Philadelphia Eagles player later doubled down on his comments.

Jason Kelce jokingly asked on his podcast, *New Heights*, with his brother Travis, “What kind of person washes someone else’s feet?” He then added that he’d only scrub them if they were visibly dirty.

More than ten years after actor Kristen Stewart shared a story about witnessing a clown’s death in a car accident at the circus when he was a child, he confessed that the story was fabricated.

Robert remembered telling *The New York Times Style Magazine* in December 2024 that he reacted with complete surprise, saying, ‘What on earth? Are you possessed?’

As for what he said during the 2011Ā Today interview promoting his filmĀ Water for Elephants?

He explained that one of the clowns had died in an accident. Their miniature car exploded while they were driving it, and it was a very serious incident. Everyone panicked and ran to safety; it was a truly frightening experience.

Grandma knows best.

In an October 2022 episode of *The Kardashians*, Kim Kardashian shared a personal story about how her grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, unexpectedly played a role in a private moment with her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

Kim Kardashian told MJ, Kris Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian that she and Pete Davidson were at the Beverly Hills Hotel when she remembered something her grandmother told her. She explained that her grandmother believed having sex in front of a fireplace was a way to truly enjoy life, so they decided to do it as a tribute to Kris.

Grandma’s reaction? A nod of approval.

Honestly, Kim said something that really stuck with me – she asked how anyone can *not* think about their grandma right before being intimate! And MJ’s response was perfect: she just acknowledged it’s a weird thought, but reminded everyone she wasn’t always as mature as she is now. It was such a relatable moment, even if a little awkward!

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a very close family, including their children, 8-year-old Wyatt and 6-year-old Dimitri, and their love for each other is limitless.

So much so, that the Black SwanĀ actress revealed they keep an open-door policy at home.

She told TopMob News in September 2022 that this even extends to the bathroom. She explained that her family has simply accepted all normal bodily functions as a regular part of life, for better or worse, and the kids have grown up with that understanding.

Mila explained that she finally gave in after her family repeatedly asked to come inside. She said she just decided to leave the door open rather than continue refusing them.

Pre-kids, she might not have imagined she’d flush that particular boundary away.

She said she never imagined she’d be comfortable enough to use the restroom with the door open.

Ghouls justĀ want to have fun.

During an October 2022 episode of *The View*, the hosts were discussing a woman who claimed her home was haunted by sexual ghosts. This led Sara Haines to ask a surprising question: could a person get pregnant from a sexual encounter with a ghost?

Luckily, Joy Behar, her co-host, chimed in with a humorous response: “I’ve had encounters with ghosts and haven’t gotten pregnant.”

ā€œI’m going to leave that statement as is,ā€ Whoopi Goldberg responded. ā€œI’m not sure everyone heard what Joy said, but I’m choosing not to comment further on it.ā€

Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are very close friends, but Hoda recently learned something surprising about her “Today” co-host. While preparing for an episode of “Today with Hoda and Jenna,” Hoda found out that Jenna always goes without underwear.

Hoda Kotb shared a funny story from a November 2022 episode of *Today with Hoda and Jenna*. She explained that they both needed to quickly change outfits and return to the dressing room. While there, Hoda realized Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t wear underwear.

Jenna’s rationale? Well, no underwear might just be more convenient to her.

She explained that the style creates a more flattering shape and also makes packing easier, adding that there are many benefits to choosing it.

Looks like someone hasn’t been keeping up.

Britney Spears related to a popular line from Keke Palmer – “He could be walking down the street, and I wouldn’t know a thing” – because she confessed she didn’t recognize Pete Davidson or Scott Disick.

Britney shared a funny video from March featuring Pete Davidson—who was dating Kim Kardashian at the time—and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick, having a night out. She said the video had her laughing a lot.

Britney apologized for sharing the video, explaining she didn’t know who was in it, but it had made her laugh a lot!

Before Chris Evans became famous as Captain America and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, Jana Kramer dated him and thought he was a charming and handsome guy.

The singer shared on her podcast, *Whine Down with Jana Kramer*, that this happened over ten years ago. She doesn’t remember exactly how many times they went out, but she does remember their final meeting.

Jana, who was around 26 at the time, said Chris asked her to come over when he had some friends visiting from Boston.

Jana recalled that the last thing she remembered was her partner going to the bathroom right after she’d eaten asparagus, which changes the smell of urine. They didn’t spend the night together. He stayed up late with friends, and the next morning she left his house feeling embarrassed – what she jokingly called the ‘asparagus walk of shame’.

She added, “I never heard from him again.”

Not all of theseĀ confessionsĀ are amusing.

As a lifestyle expert, I was shocked to learn the truth about Elisabeth Finch, a writer who, for eight years, led people to believe she was fighting a rare bone cancer. She originally shared this story with ELLE, and it even became part of a Grey’s Anatomy storyline. But just recently, in December, she admitted it was all fabricated. It’s a really unsettling situation, and highlights the importance of authenticity and truthfulness.

Elisabeth recently shared with *The Ankler* newsletter that a lie she told at age 34 was the biggest regret of her life. She explained that the falsehood grew over time and became increasingly difficult to reveal. She also clarified that she has never been diagnosed with cancer.

Finch, who was temporarily removed from his role on the ABC medical show before ultimately quitting, admitted, “I messed up badly. It was completely unacceptable, and I take full responsibility.”

Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.

The reality star told *The New York Times* she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger.

She admitted in June that she’d even consider something extreme – like eating something disgusting daily – if it meant she could look younger. She emphasized she was serious, saying, ‘I just might.’

In a July 2022 interview with *Allure*, Kim explained she was mostly joking when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.

Kim thought for a moment and then said, ‘Honestly, I’d probably eat something awful if someone promised it would make me look younger – even if it meant eating a bowl of poop every day.’

She wasn’t sure how much she could eat. “Perhaps just a small taste,” she said. “I don’t think I could manage a full bowl.”

Jelly Roll could’ve used some saving from himself.

During an April 2025 interview on *The Jennifer Hudson Show*, the singer of ā€œSave Meā€ shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t hesitate to reveal all the details.

ā€œI pooped myself one time,ā€ he admitted. ā€œI did, I’m sorry.ā€

To be honest, Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.

He firmly believed it was just a harmless prank. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience turn from supportive to completely against me.”
