Jessica Jones Fans Shouldn’t Expect One Thing from Krysten Ritter’s ‘Daredevil’ Return

Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Season 2 of *Daredevil: Born Again*. While Daredevil is getting a new look, Jessica Jones will likely stick to her signature style. She’s famous for her black leather jacket and scarf, and although she’s worn a more traditional superhero outfit as Jewel and with the New Avengers in the comics, it doesn’t seem like the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be giving her a costume change anytime soon.

At New York Comic-Con, Krysten Ritter discussed the possibility of Jessica Jones wearing her classic Jewel costume in future Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances. While she enjoys the character’s current style, saying Jessica “looks about as cool as you can possibly look,” Ritter is open to exploring different looks if the opportunity arises. She stated she’d be open to anything, but is happy with how the character currently appears.

Jessica Jones Costume History

Netflix

Jessica Jones, co-created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, first appeared in the comic book *Alias* in 2001. It was later revealed she went to school with Peter Parker and briefly worked as a superhero called Jewel before becoming a private investigator. A white-and-blue jumpsuit from her Jewel days was shown in a Season 1 flashback as a possible costume for her sister, Trish Walker. The Netflix series often included nods to the characters’ original looks; for example, Trish briefly tried on her Hellcat costume before rejecting it, and Luke Cage wore his classic open yellow shirt and silver crown during a flashback to his prison escape.

Jessica Jones isn’t a typical superhero when it comes to costumes – she even teased Daredevil for being the only one in their group who wore one. It wouldn’t make sense for her to suddenly start wearing a superhero outfit, or even join a team like the Avengers. Her signature jacket is already well-known and suits her perfectly. She’s much better suited to smaller, grounded stories focused on street-level crime than huge, universe-spanning conflicts.

Fans are more interested in seeing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage’s romance explored on screen than in a recreation of her original costume. Their relationship was a key part of *Jessica Jones* Season 1 and *The Defenders*, and in the comics, it leads to marriage and a daughter, Danielle Cage. While many hoped to see Mike Colter reprise his role as Luke Cage in *Daredevil: Born Again* Season 2 at New York Comic-Con, it didn’t happen. However, a future appearance for Colter’s Luke Cage is still possible, and Marvel may be planning a later announcement. At the convention, Krysten Ritter hinted that she couldn’t share what Jessica Jones has been doing, suggesting a major story development for both her and Luke Cage is coming.
