Be aware: The following contains significant spoilers for the EastEnders episode that aired on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025. It’s currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
Joel Marshall (played by Max Murray) caused trouble again, this time while he was being held by the police in EastEnders.
Okay, so things got *really* messy in this episode. Joel ended up getting arrested after a pretty violent attack on his stepmom, Vicki Fowler. And get this – his teacher, Julie Bates, ended up being the one to act as his guardian when he was brought in. It was a bizarre situation, honestly, seeing a teacher in that role!
Ross went to see Vicki in the hospital and sincerely apologized for Joel’s behavior. Vicki responded that he should have addressed the situation earlier.
When Ross explained that despite strongly disapproving of Joel’s actions, he still couldn’t cut ties with him, Vicki was speechless.

Julie told Ross that Joel had given samples for testing, and Ross then asked if Joel might be a psychopath. Julie responded that she wasn’t qualified to make that kind of diagnosis.
When Julie mentioned Joel was requesting his father, Ross felt conflicted as the police showed up to interview Vicki. Despite his hesitation, he decided to go to the police station.
Ross watched on the monitors as Joel admitted to gently pushing Vicki, causing her to stumble and fall.
Joel clearly lied and refused to own up to what he’d done, revealing his prejudiced beliefs about women in the process.
“I’m just a kid,” Joel concluded.

At The Queen Vic pub, Tommy Moon – played by Sonny Kendall – explained to the police that Joel had misled him. He said he’d initially tried to help Joel, but changed his mind once he understood what was actually happening.
Tommy was really upset by how badly Joel hurt Vicki, and he later apologized to his mother, Kat Moon, for everything that happened.
When Joel was shown the video of him attacking Vicki, he became furious and demanded to speak with Ross. He’d just realized his own father was the one who had reported him to the police.
Joel had to be restrained, and Ross struggled to cope with what he was seeing.
“You tell him he’s dead to me,” uttered Joel, leaving Ross broken.
Where does this leave Ross, and what will become of Joel?
