Pokémon Go Halloween event: Start date and what to expect

Excited for a Halloween-themed Pokémon Go event? It’s that time of year, and players are anticipating something spooky!

Pokémon Go is marking its tenth Halloween with a spooky celebration! The popular mobile game isn’t having just one event, but two, to celebrate the season.

Here’s everything to expect from each part, including the featured Pokémon, Raid bosses, and more.

When is Pokémon Go’s Halloween event?

Niantic has confirmed that the Pokémon Go Halloween event will begin on 21st October.

This year’s Halloween event will happen in two stages. The first stage begins at 10am on October 21st and lasts until October 27th.

The second part of the event begins on October 27th at 10am and continues through Halloween, ending on November 2nd at 8pm local time.

Everything included in Pokémon Go’s Halloween event

Part 1

This update introduces Poltchageist and Sinistcha as new Pokémon, and shiny versions of Sinistea and Polteageist will also be available.

Players can battle Raid bosses like Galarian Yamask, Sinister, Polchageist, Alolan Marowak, Hisuian Typhlosion, and Hisuian Samurott.

Okay, so in Pokémon GO, Team Rocket’s been using Shadow Yamask and Shadow Phantump, which is pretty cool. Plus, they added a bunch of new stickers and stuff to customize my avatar, so that’s a nice bonus!

Part 2

Let’s be real, the second part of the event is way more appealing. Teddiursa, Ursaring, Ursaluna, Noibat, and Noivern will all be dressed up for Halloween, and you can even find shiny versions of each Pokémon!

As a Pokémon GO fan, I was super excited about the Halloween raid bosses! We got to battle spooky versions of Pikachu, Drifblim, and Piplup, plus a special Trick & Treats Gengar. And the best part? There was even a chance to find a shiny Sinistea and Poltchageist – that was a real treat!

Throughout the event, 7km Eggs will feature themed Pokémon. Plus, you’ll have a better chance of earning Rare Candy and Rare Candy XL by catching Pokémon wearing costumes on October 31st if you make Nice Throws or better.

The GO Pass for Halloween 2025 has the following rewards for reaching milestones, too:

Tier 1

  • 2× Catch Candy
  • GO Pass Deluxe: 3× Catch Candy

Tier 2

  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws

Tier 3

  • 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for transferring Pokémon
  • GO Pass Deluxe: 3× Candy for transferring Pokémon
  • GO Pass Deluxe: Even greater chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for transferring Pokémon

To add to the spooky atmosphere, the classic Lavender Town theme song will be remixed and played during the Halloween event evenings. As always, you’ll also be able to earn special event stickers by spinning PokeStops, opening gifts, and making purchases in the in-game store.

You can now buy a cute Polteageist Hat in the store, as you can see in the picture. It’s a must-have for any fan!
