The Outer Worlds 2 Gets Live-Action Trailer Celebrating its “Big Sequel Energy”

Obsidian Entertainment recently released a new trailer for *The Outer Worlds 2*, which is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S later this month. The trailer, playfully titled “Big Sequel Energy,” highlights the significant improvements and upgrades the new game offers over the original *The Outer Worlds*. You can watch it below.

The new trailer for *The Outer Worlds 2* stars Marc Evan Jackson as the leader of a research team. Ben Schwartz plays Mark, the person in charge of sequels, who tries to impress the team with gift cards and a preview of a live-action trailer. However, the team seems much more interested in seeing actual gameplay footage than Mark’s over-the-top presentation, which includes a choir singing about “BSE – big sequel energy.”

The trailer isn’t just funny scenes; it also gives a quick look at gameplay from *The Outer Worlds 2*. We see the different characters you’ll meet, the planets you’ll explore, the companies involved, how you can play the game, and the weapons you’ll use.

Obsidian Entertainment has been openly working to make *The Outer Worlds 2* a significant improvement over the first game, aiming for a larger, more detailed, and more immersive experience. In August, Leonard Boyarsky, the game’s creative lead, discussed his early ideas for the sequel, particularly focusing on expanding its scope.

When discussing the original *The Outer Worlds*, Boyarsky explained that while they created a unique world, it was relatively limited in scope. His vision for a sequel, *The Outer Worlds 2*, was to expand that world significantly, going ‘much bigger and deeper.’ Because the first game had limited time and resources, many elements had to be streamlined. Boyarsky believes *The Outer Worlds 2* finally realizes the full potential they initially imagined for the series.

I was really excited to hear more about *The Outer Worlds 2*, and I loved what they said about the story! They’re really focused on making sure the narrative is gripping and flows well, but also that it doesn’t *force* itself on you if you just want to jump in and play. The developer explained that, for him, the story, world, and how it all unfolds have always been the most important part, and he wants to make sure it enhances your experience with *your* character, not get in the way of it – and that’s staying true no matter what new tech they’re using.

According to director Brandon Adler, the first area in *The Outer Worlds 2* – called Paradise Island – will be very large and could take players over twelve hours to completely discover.

We really wanted to challenge ourselves with *Paradise Island* and see how much content we could fit in. We spent a lot of time studying other games, paying attention to how they managed the flow between different areas and interesting locations. As a result, *Paradise Island* became a substantial and detailed experience.
