Last week, Unknown Worlds Entertainment faced a stir when the appointment of Steve Papoutsis from Striking Distance Studios as CEO was announced amidst numerous layoffs. This sudden change led to Ted Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max McGuire stepping down, effective immediately. This development raised eyebrows concerning the progress of Subnautica 2.
The developer has recently made a declaration to the community, reassuring fans that the core team responsible for the game’s day-to-day operations over the past few years remains the same. This team consists of veterans who were involved in the original project, as well as new members with impressive skills who have joined to aid us in realizing our vision for Subnautica 2.
At the moment, Papoutsis is being aided as he assumes his position as CEO at Unknown Worlds. He’s already shown enthusiasm about delving into everything the team has been developing so far and is actively involved in upholding our ongoing vision and the journey towards the early access release of Subnautica 2.
In its current form, Unknown Worlds boasts a world and experience they are all incredibly proud of. From the story they aim to share, to every creature, big or small, right down to the smallest stone. They want to assure you that Krafton is committed to upholding this vision within the studio as we journey together towards Early Access.
Absolutely, it’s equally dedicated to hearing your feedback, maintaining top-notch quality, and meeting your expectations. An update regarding the release date for the early access version is coming soon, but rest assured, the fundamental structure remains unchanged.
This game is designed for individual play initially, but you can choose to team up with others in cooperative multiplayer. There are no subscription fees, no loot boxes, no battle passes, and no additional purchases required.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be diving into the underwater world of Subnautica 2 soon! This exhilarating adventure kicks off its early access phase later this year, gracing Xbox Series X/S and PC gamers alike. And
Though it’s a continuation of the original, the narrative unfolds on an entirely new celestial body, filled with uncharted biomes teeming with unique marine life. So, keep your eyes peeled for further developments in the meantime; I can hardly wait to join you on this aquatic quest!
