Dead Space 4 Gets Update From Series Creator

As a huge Dead Space fan, I was so excited to hear the creator of the series thinks we might *finally* get a Dead Space 4! The original games were some of the best horror experiences on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but sadly, the series ended after three games. Even though critics and fans loved it, Dead Space just didn’t sell enough for EA, and that pretty much killed any plans for more games. I remember hearing they had ideas for where to take the story, but EA decided to have the team at Visceral Games work on something else, like Battlefield Hardline instead. It’s a long shot, but a new Dead Space game would be incredible!

After the original *Dead Space* was discontinued, fans were thrilled when a remake was released a few years ago. The remake was a fantastic update to the beloved horror game and received widespread acclaim. This success led fans to eagerly request either a remake of *Dead Space 2* or a completely new fourth installment. Unfortunately, it’s been two years with no announcements about either project. Reports suggest both ideas were considered, but ultimately rejected due to the remake’s sales figures. However, there’s still a possibility that a new game could happen.

Dead Space 4 Could Happen Following New EA Deal

Glen Schofield, the creator of Dead Space, recently told IGN he’s hopeful a new game in the series could happen in the future. He pitched a fourth Dead Space game after the successful remake, but Electronic Arts (EA) turned the idea down, continuing their trend of distancing themselves from the franchise. While many thought this meant the end of Dead Space, Schofield believes EA’s new ownership might change things. A group of investors is buying EA for $55 billion, though the deal also includes taking on $20 billion in debt.

To pay off its debts, Electronic Arts will likely need to reduce its expenses, either through layoffs or by selling off some of its game franchises and development studios. Industry analyst Michael Schofield believes selling the *Dead Space* franchise could be a smart move, potentially allowing a new owner to create a sequel. He’s already exploring the possibility of *Dead Space 4* being made.

Schofield said, “We’ll have to wait and see.” He questioned EA’s current strategy, suggesting the recent Dead Space remake might not have been profitable. He believes the Dead Space story has potential for adaptation into other formats like movies or TV shows, and expressed optimism that a new owner, following EA’s sale, could explore those possibilities.

Schofield worked on *Dead Space 2* for a short time and wasn’t involved with *Dead Space 3* at all. He left Visceral Games to start Sledgehammer Games, which later created *Call of Duty* games. After that, he founded Striking Distance Studios, but is currently available for new opportunities. He’s expressed interest in revisiting the *Dead Space* series, but whether he’ll get the chance depends on the future of the franchise and if a new owner would want him to lead a new game.
