Selena Gomez is urging her fans to calm down.
Selena Gomez, known for her song “Kill ‘Em With Kindness,” posted a message that appeared to be a response to recent comments made by Hailey Bieber. Both Selena’s Rare Beauty and Hailey’s Rhode Beauty are now available for purchase at Sephora.
Selena posted on Instagram on October 17th, saying, “Just leave her alone.” She quickly deleted the post, adding that whatever the other person says doesn’t bother her and is simply a matter of them trying to stay relevant, not about having anything intelligent to say.
Honestly, I was so shocked to see everything happening with her! She’s amazing, and after getting married to Benny Blanco just a few months ago, it really hurt to see people being so mean. She actually *asked* everyone to just be kind, and it broke my heart that she even *had* to say that. She deserves all the happiness in the world!
She went on to say that she finds inspiration in all brands, believing there’s space for everyone to succeed, and expressing a hope that they can all eventually find a point of balance.
Just days before, Hailey – who married Justin Bieber, the ex-boyfriend of the *Only Murders In The Building* star, in 2018 – discussed her company growing, and said she doesn’t want to compete with other brands.
In a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine, the 28-year-old expressed frustration with constant comparisons to others. ‘I never asked to be put in that position,’ they said. ‘When people have already decided who they think you are, it’s not your job to correct them.’
Indeed, Hailey insisted she’s only focused on one competitor: herself.
The model believes there’s room for everyone to succeed, and doesn’t see people she isn’t inspired by as competition.
For years, people have speculated about a rivalry between Hailey and Selena, but both women have consistently said they don’t dislike each other. Selena recently showed her support by publicly defending Hailey after seeing online criticism.
I was really upset to hear that Hailey Bieber was getting death threats and so much hateful negativity online. It broke my heart, and I immediately spoke out because that’s just not okay. No one deserves to be treated like that – hate and bullying are never the answer, and I definitely don’t support it.
“I’ve always advocated for kindness,” she added, “and really want this all to stop.”
