Today, Tekken Talk revealed the specifics for the upcoming summer update on July 7th. On the stage, Murray appeared somewhat somber. Yet, amidst the product promotion, there was indeed genuine game content!
To start with, the highlight was the reveal of Tekken 8 featuring swimsuits! At last, a variety of characters, including males and females, can expect custom swimsuit options. While it’s unclear if the entire cast is involved, popular characters such as Jin, Xiao, and Lee will undoubtedly don some stylish summer attire for this update.
Furthermore, each costume is tailored to fit the character uniquely; Lee wears speedos, while Anna dons a bikini. Despite not being as revealing as Dead or Alive swimwear, these Tekken 8 Swimsuits are still aesthetically pleasing. However, they’re not inexpensive as one might expect from the Tekken shop costs.

Instead of beating around the bush, it would be great if Bandai gave these items away for free. However, we’ll have to wait and see what they decide. In addition to the new swimwear designs, this latest release includes some stunning fanart panels featuring Devil Jin and other characters. This time, they are getting special attention.

In this revised version, the Pac-Man level demonstrated scenes of both the upper floor’s destruction and the lower floor’s explosion. Despite its unusual appearance, it maintains an entertaining design and includes all the iconic Pac-Man sound effects.
Frankly speaking, what genuinely excites me is the reveal of Tekken 8’s swimsuit designs, not whatever else. On a personal note, I find it more intriguing if they make the stage setting more ordinary, perhaps something like a bustling shopping center reminiscent of Tekken 4.
They Are Tekken Your Money
Despite facing a rough patch in terms of reception following the disappointing Season 2 update, the developers seem unphased by the situation.
Despite numerous complaints from professional gamers about cheating issues, it seems that their concerns are falling on deaf ears; they appear to be solely focused on financial matters at the moment, disregarding the difficulties you’re facing online.

Tekken 8 is one of the fastest-selling Tekken games ever, surpassing the sales of Tekken 7 within its first month. Despite frequent complaints from gamers, it maintains a higher player retention rate than Tekken 7. What’s more, revenue is generated through the Tekken shop.
It seems that elsewhere, individuals are purchasing easy microtransactions without much effort. The company, once thriving on fan-organized tournaments and user-generated content, no longer relies on your support as they now stand on shaky ground.
From a business perspective, it’s important to consider why we might prioritize serving dedicated players over casual ‘whales.’ Although the latter can provide significant income, is it worth neglecting a group of loyal customers who may bring additional benefits in terms of brand loyalty, customer retention, and long-term growth?

It’s short-sighted to showcase Tekken 8 Swimsuits in a convent, similar to how casual fans can quickly shift their attention. These fans may be generous with their money, but just as easily, their interests change. One day, you might be their focus, and the next, when a new game like Umamusume: Pretty Derby comes out, they move on!
However, the business person might prioritize short-term gains over long-term strategies, focusing more on casual audiences. This could lead to alterations in fundamental gameplay mechanisms, exaggeration of character traits (flanderization), and a simplification of content until it becomes unsophisticated or sloppy.
Ponder over the reasoning behind such a difference: Why is it that a large corporation like Bandai seems unable to set aside a substantial $100,000 prize pool, whereas smaller entities such as Capcom and SNK can manage a prize pool worth a million dollars?
