Webtoon Announces New Partnership to Bring Webcomics to Fans of All Ages

Global comic leader Webtoon is broadening its partnership with Penguin Random House, a major publishing house, to bring a wide variety of popular webcomics to print for readers everywhere. This expanded alliance, unveiled at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, involves two imprints from Penguin Random House – Inklore and Ink Pop – releasing 14 eagerly awaited Webtoon titles over the next five years.

With this strategic step, Webtoon reaffirms its dedication to expanding its reach and enriching the digital comic experience for a wider demographic. By teaming up with traditional print publishers, Webtoon is effectively connecting the world of digital-first content with physical bookshelves. This collaboration allows fans fresh ways to engage with their beloved tales and invites a new crop of readers who favor physical editions of comics and graphic novels. This alliance not only underscores the rising clout of webcomics in the entertainment industry, but also ensures that these much-loved narratives become more accessible than ever before.

Popular Digital Series Will Soon Be Available as Physical Books

The collaboration between Inklore and Ink Pop, along with Webtoon, will bring an extensive range of its popular comic series into the realm of print, appealing to both mature and younger readers. Notably, Inklore, a division of Random House Worlds, has already achieved significant success with the printed version of Rachel Smythe’s Eisner award-winning “Lore Olympus,” a series that garnered over 1.7 billion views on Webtoon.

Based on this success, Inklore plans to release two more eagerly awaited Webtoon Originals in 2026: “Eleceed” by Jeho Son and “Zhena”, with “Midnight Poppy Land” by Lilydusk and “I Love Yoo” by Quimchee set for 2027. Inklore caters to a diverse range of genres such as romance, fantasy, science fiction, horror, and slice-of-life, ensuring that its print editions cater to readers with various literary preferences. This ongoing partnership with Inklore demonstrates the growing desire for hardcopies of digitally birthed stories, enabling fans to collect and exhibit their beloved tales on bookshelves.

Simultaneously, Ink Pop – a new collection of global comics for children and teenagers from Random House Children’s Books – is deepening its partnership with Webtoon. With the debut of I Wanna Be Your Girl Vol. 1 by Umi Takase, Ink Pop aims to deliver exciting and captivating stories to younger readers. This collaboration with Webtoon will commence in Summer 2026, featuring the gripping suspense series School Bus Graveyard by Red, followed by the beloved webcomic Brass & Sass by antlerella in Fall 2026, and Swimming Lessons for a Mermaid by Yongchan in 2027. Ink Pop’s objective, mirroring Random House Graphic’s ambition of “a graphic novel on every bookshelf,” centers around offering a diverse range of genres and art styles tailored to kids and teens.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the strategic title choices by both Inklore and Ink Pop. They’ve mastered the art of transferring the distinct charm of webcomics onto printed pages, all while safeguarding the essence of the original digital comics. This collaboration not only broadens their appeal to new readers but also reinforces Webtoon’s status as a titan in global entertainment, extending its influence across diverse media platforms.
